Next up on our Halloween Heavy Metal special is the Norwegian Black Metal duo of Satyr & Frost, better known as Satyricon. Satyricon helped to pioneer the Norwegian Black Metal Scene along with Mayhem, Emperor, Immortal, & Burzum. Satyricon are captured here promoting their Now! Diabolical release, which took some criticism for continuing on a more commercialized path musically. Satyricon has always progressed with every release. The progressions haven't always been received well by Black Metal purists due to the band adopting slower tempos and more comprehendable vocals. Being successful in Black Metal is not acceptable and any type of evolution in your music is seen as a "sell out" maneuver. Satyricon count Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) and Joey Jordison (Slipknot, Murderdolls) as fans. Jordison actually subbed for Frost when Satyricon toured the USA and Frost couldn't get a visa.
