Bob Seger guitar, vocals
Marcy Levy vocals
Jamie Oldecker drums
Dick Simms organ, pedal bass, clavinet
Sergio Pastora percusion
Tom Cartmell aka Alto Reed saxophones

This one shows a little age but is a completely enjoyable listen and a must for all fans of Bob Seger. The long jam on "Turn The Page" is worth downloading this boot right now. Alto Reed takes a long solo and the band jams on, as the song morphs into "Heavy Music / Let It Rock". After that long jam the band plays a solid rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Baby, Please Stop Messin' Around". The final encore of Bobby "Blue" Bland's "Turn On Your Love Light" is unfortunately not included. According to sources the Bob Seger System's "Lucifer" was also played but not aired.

I was on a Genesis kick this week (expect some Steve Hackett solo material this week) so I thought I would pull this Brand X show out for one of the Sunday Jazz posts. I had a friend who only knew Phil Collins from his solo music and the later Commercial Era of Genesis. He would refer to Phil as the Cabbage Patch Kid. So one day I pulled out this Brand X recording and played it for him. He loved it, then I told him Phil Collins played the drums for Brand X at the time. His response was "Wow Cabbage Patch Kid can play the drums, who knew".

For those who have not heard Brand X this is some serious stuff, if you like Jazz Fusion by all means download this recording!

I got this from Big O a great place for bootlegs from a variety of genres and artists.

Swans are a Post-Punk band that came out of New York's No-Wave Scene. The band was formed by Michael Gira in 1982 and has been highly experimental music wise from the beginning. The music incorporates elements of Noise Rock, Post Rock, Industrial, Metal, Neo-Folk and more. Performances of the band were known to be very confrontational, with Gira stepping on fingers of fans if they were resting them on the stage, pulling peoples hair, and actually assaulting some fans who were headbanging (something Gira despised at the time). Shows were oft times stopped by Police due to the bands habit of playing at extremely painful volumes. This reputation caused the reduction in shows, and break up of the band in 1997. Since reforming in 2010 the performances have been about the music.

Only known FM recording of Deep Purple featuring Joe Satriani on guitar. Knocking At Your Back Door is missing on most versions of this show.

History:
This line-up came about after Richie Blackmore left the group during the European tour in November 1993. Richie had not wanted to reunite with Ian Gillan. Gillan had left Purple to be replaced by Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow. Turner did one album and tour before the record Lord, Paice, Glover and the record company strong armed Richie into doing a 25th Anniversary LP & Tour with Gillan. Richie was actually bribed with $250,000 by the record company to do the reunion. The tour was very successful and The Battle Rages On album well received, but Richie's heart wasn't into it so he bailed out.

Joe Satriani stepped in to cover the Japanese dates but continued on to do a summer Europe tour. Joe was actually asked to join Purple after the tour. Reports conflict as to why Joe didn't stay. Joe says his contract as a solo artist would not permit it. In an interview later the members of Purple stated that although the live chemistry was there, Joe couldn't jell with the band in a writing context. Former Dixie Dreggs/Kansas guitar player Steve Morse was selected some time later and has remained in Purple since. Richie does Celtic folk music with his wife in Blackmore's Knight. The kind of music that you would hear at a Renaissance Festival.

Joe Perry lead guitar, backing & lead vocals
Ronnie Stewart drums
David Hull bass
Ralph Morman lead vocals

This recording comes before Ralph Morman was sacked and replaced with Joey Mala. Mala would finish the tour only to be replaced with singer guitarist Charlie Farren. The bands line up would remain fluid until the end, most likely due to Joe Perry's increasing drug problems. The band folded due to label pressure to reunite with Aerosmith.

The show itself was real good speaking as someone who was there, in retrospect it was rather telling that Perry didn't let singer Morman speak to the audience. The set included Joe Perry Project and Aerosmith tracks most notably "Reefer Headed Woman" & "Bone To Bone". Both tracks were featured on the Night In The Ruts album that was as Joe puts it .."out by some friends of mine".

The recording I would give a B maybe a B-. there is a drop out at about 3min 35sec into track 13 it lasts for maybe a second. Also it sounds as if the tape used was an old one or could have been played a lot. Overall a very enjoyable listen though. The files were full of sector boundary errors and blank spaces at both ends of each track. I decoded the files and used Goldwave to trim the blank ends. The files were then encoded using Traders Little Helper aligning all sector boundaries. No remastering was done.

There is a fade out in track 2 at about 6:50 the track fades back in presumably a tape flip or removal of a commercial. Other than that this is a very fine recording. Nice and clear allowing the power of the music to shine through. This is the Eric Burdon Band and it was more of a hard rock sound than anything Eric had done up to that time. The show is simply awesome with tracks from Burdon's solo career, the then unreleased Mirage project as well as re-workings of Animals classics. "When I Was Young", "It's My Life" and "House Of The Rising Sun" have more of a bite. The music meant as a reflection of the times as Eric saw them. War, Starvation, Racism, and Corruption all filtered through over driven Marshall stacks and pounding primal rhythms.

All Christmas Shows Are Back Up

Hello Everyone first let me Thank All Of You for your kind words during this hard time Rosebud & I are having. You have supported us through many rough times...THANK YOU!!

Now all of the Christmas shows are up and running with new MEGA links. I hope they help make your Christmas Holiday more cheerful.

Now I received quit a few Re-post Requests while Rosebud & I were tending to family affairs. I will get to those soon. My goal is to re-post all the files on the archive that are on Filefactory to MEGA. Filefactory is just too unreliable and slow for the times we live in now.

Also Myself and my Associates in The Collective Of Live Music have been hard at work and I can guarantee a lot of new shows are coming, a lot of which are Collective Of Live Music Exclusives.

This one is a classic, it's been in trading circles for a while, if you don't have a copy of it yet you should. This is a great performance from a band it seems was tailor made for Holiday music. Chicago's Christmas album and this show both get heavy rotation for the Holidays at Just Dave's Place every year and for me has become as big a part of Christmas as Elvis, Bing Crosby and egg nog (got to have egg nog!).

More Christmas Music for your shopping pleasure. The Boston Pops Holiday Pops show was started by none other than Arthur Fiedler who conducted The Pops from 1930-1979. Arthur Fielder was responsible for The Pops playing Popular Music alongside Classical Music. The Pops sold more records than any other orchestra in the world under Fiedler's direction. When the Disco craze hit, The Pops released the Disco album Saturday Night Fiedler, which was Fiedler's last album with The Pops. The Boston Pops Holiday Concerts are still a tradition in Boston.

I like listening to Celtic Folk Music sometimes when I am sipping wine after dinner. It has a direct relationship to American Bluegrass Music. The rhythms, the tone, the timbre are all pretty much the same. It's also the music of my heritage, being Scots-Irish. My family came to America during the Gold Rush. They were miners and a corporation paid them to come here and teach them how to mine gold (yep that stuff actually happened). They were paid with land in Appalachia. The Appalachian Mountains is the cradle of American Country Music, the product of Bluegrass, Blues and Gospel/Spirituals.

This is an upgrade to an earlier Carla Bley Christmas show. The previous show was posted in MP3 224kbps, this one is in Flac and includes 3 bonus tracks from a 2008 performance. If you haven't heard Carla's Christmas Carols then you really should download this show. Carla makes great use of the Brass section, even using tuba, French horn and flugelhorn to achieve a nice range of instrumental voices. This show is in as heavy of a Holiday Playlist rotation as Trans-Siberian Orchestra (that's huge, TSO is big with my family!). Rosebud even asks for it to be played, so you know it's not an Avant-Garde Jazz event. It's easily digestible by even the slightest of Jazz fans.

This is a great show featuring some awesome performances. Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow, Deep Purple fame sings some Old School Soul songs from Otis Reading and Sam & Dave. Ellen Folly turns in a great performance of some Rock & Roll Classics. Gary "US" Bonds gives a show stopping performance. Buster Poindexter, Marshall Crenshaw, and Gene Cornish of The Young Rascals all give top notch performances. The show ends with Broadways Longest Running "Annie" Allison Smith performing a song she wrote and released to benefit the Search for Missing Children Fund, the charity this show is a benefit for. Then the whole cast comes back for a jam on Christmas songs. Awesome stuff and over 3 hours of music!

justdave notes:
On CD 1 the tracks labeled Brazilian Sleigh Ride Part A-C are the performance of the song and whatever was being played through the monitor and/or video system when the band took it's set break. The original  up-loader had it as one long track. BigO Worldwide spilt the track into 3 pieces for easier access on their server.

A really nice collection of alternate Christmas tracks from Elvis. This is a really nice package. It came in a box with post cards and a calender. The original uploader scanned and included these goodies for us. Some of my earliest Christmas memories include Elvis Presley's music in the back ground. For me it isn't Christmas without hearing Elvis sing "Blue Christmas" and Bing Crosby sing "White Christmas".

Progressive Rock Supergroup Trans-Siberian Orchestra has made a career of Christmas. 4 of their 6 CD's are Christmas themed concept albums. The band crisscrosses the country every Holiday season entertaining thousands of families. Their music has become synonymous with Christmas, in such demand that they need 2 complete touring line ups to cover all the concert bookings, one for the east coast another for the west. The band has actually eclipsed the day jobs of the band members. Members of both Savatage, and Testament have graced the TSO stage and studio releases.

Music & Laughter, what could be better. That's exactly what this recording offers. There is Great Holiday Music combined with the wit of vocalist Clare Teal. Rosebud & I Love Christmas, when our children were young we went all out with the decorations. The decorating has tamed a little, we still have a tree, I still put a little village under the tree. My daughter has carried on that tradition with her family. It started with my Grandfather. Every year his village was bigger and more elaborate. We would buy him pieces for his village for Christmas all the time. They would always be incorporated into the village the next year. All us grandkids have a village under our trees. Every year my Mom and all her brothers and sisters would bring all their kids to my Grandparents one bedroom apartment in the hood for Christmas. Family, we were taught real young, is all you have or need to get through life so our family has always been tight.

Now the family get together has to happen at a hall because our family has grown so big. All 20 of the original grandchildren, have kids who have kids. My cousin Teresa has 23 kids. She had 3 of her own then became a foster parent and adopted every child that was brought to her home. They all now have at least 2 kids, and that is just one cousin. It's a large family, but every young child still gets a present. Santa brings them in to be passed out. Everyone always has plenty to eat, with more to take home. The Christmas tree always has a village. It gets bigger every year.
