Blue Rodeo was a bit of a surprise to me. When it was recommended I should check them out I was skeptical to say the least. I was told they were sort of an Alt-County Southern Rock kinda thing from Canada. I must apologize to all my Canadian friends but Canada was not my first guess I would find a Southern Rock band. When I think of Canadian Music I think Gordon Lightfoot, Rush, Triumph, April Wine, Anvil, Exciter, & Cryptopsy, not an Alt-Country Southern Rock kinda thing. I accepted his loan of the bands debut CD. I have to admit I played it so much Rosebud  noticed and asked that I chose something else. She said it was okay but not for back to back listening.

Rosebud is not a big fan of Country Music or really Country sounding Southern Rock. She loves Lynyrd Skynyrd after I took her to see the Johnny Van-Zant lead version live. I then said I wanted to go see a Charlie Daniels Volunter Jam tour that was coming to Detroit. She said me she wanted to go so we took her with us. The show had a version of Molly Hatchett with only 1 founding member left, The Marshall Tucker Band who still had Doug Gray but his voice was gone, The Charlie Daniels Band which ever version Charlie had, and the headliner was ole Bocephus himself, Hank Williams Jr. Now we were on the lawn with our friends drinking and smoking having a good time.

When Hank Williams started the intro to "Family Tradition" and the whole crowd singing "Hank why do you roll smoke" I lit up. We were halfway through the doobie when I had a Cop ask me "Aren't you a little too old to be smoking pot at a concert?" I was deeply offended and told the officer "I just turned 30 what do you mean too old?" The Cop says "...too old to want to sleep on concrete tonight if he smarts off again." So I shut up and the cop says "I'm not arresting you but you and your friends have to leave." I said to my buddy sitting in front of me with his brother "Excuse me sir, I know we were sharing our blanket with you but the police want me to leave so could you and your friend slip off it?" He looked at me and the cops and said "Sure man..... I hope all goes well". The cop started escorting Rosebud and I off the hill toward the exits. Rosebud decided to speak her mind about the situation yelling "We're getting thrown out for smoking weed like we are some kinda criminals!" "This is a violation of my rights as a citizen to my pursuit of happiness." I said in a grumble "Damn it shut up, he's not arresting us and this is Hank's encore, fuck it lets go home." I told Rosebud when we were safely away from the cops "I have about an once rolled in joints in my jacket pocket. You almost got me popped woman!" We laugh about it now especially since it's now legal.

This is the first in a few Quadraphonic recordings to come from Pink Floyd. This 2 source audience matrix was a great choice for the Quadraphonic treatment. The choices and process are lain out in detail in the info text included with the upload. To try and sum up, both tapers used mono recorders. Both taper's missed songs and had some songs cut. Each had 4 songs they taped in their entirety. They happened to be the same 4 songs. Only the 4 songs both successfully recorded were used.

Taper #1 was close up to the stage and the tape has very good sound in itself. It has been used for many bootleg releases due to it being the most complete, best sounding source. Taper #2 was sitting pretty far back so his tape was used to give the recording it's ambiance. This ambiance is used to great effect, giving the feeling of being in the audience. With your surround speakers set up right the music comes mainly from the front. The sound effects and voices of audience members engulf you from all around.

As I said with the Genesis Quadraphonic show, I have a few of these coming. These will include more Pink Floyd, more Genesis, Caravan, Santana, Barclay James Harvest, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Robin Trower, and Ronnie Lane & Slim Chance to name a few. Most are Pre-FM, some are Soundboard and some are Audience. I found a very generic cover to use since there is no real cover art for a Quad source.

Just like the Genesis recording I can not encode Quadraphonic into MP3. For an MP3 upload I had to use Goldwave to convert the recording to 2 channels. They do have the same matrix mix but are not quadraphonic encoded.

The Flac files were huge so I had to divide them into 5 equal parts. You will need all five parts to unzip the files. The links are interchangeable so I recommend downloading one from each server at a time if you can.

Alright let first say do not be afraid to download this one because of the tracks with cuts. This is a nice sounding recording and a great performance, and the cuts offer minimal annoyance. This humble listener really enjoyed this boot and I am listening to it again right now.

Growing up Aerosmith was a huge part of my musical life. From the first time I heard them on the radio I was hooked. I can't remember what the first songs I heard on the radio were but I do know what album I bought first. It was the debut album Aerosmith. My parents had bought me my first quality stereo for my bedroom. It had AM/FM Stereo, an 8-Track Player, Reel To Reel, Equalizer, & Turntable. The speakers were huge and very loud.

When I first listened to Aerosmith's debut I thought it was as raw and funky as The Rolling Stones & as powerful as Led Zeppelin. Aerosmith was one of the few bands that I actually decided to buy there albums in the order released. This way I caught up to them by time Rocks was released. Draw The Line was the first Aerosmith album I bought before hearing any of it. I was so pleasantly surprised at the heaviness of the recording. It was not lost on me that Aerosmith had been trending heavier with each release. It was for the Draw The Line Tour when I saw the band for the first time live. At The World Series Of Rock in Ohio, I was so disappointed. I mean they did break up back stage that day. With fights between wives, band mates & crew mates and this was before the show. They floundered onstage and seemed to just peter out before walking off. Joe Perry would walk out permanently during the Night In The Ruts recording sessions (the first Aerosmith album to disappoint me)

I saw the band 2 more times after. Once on the Rock In A Hard Place Tour and the 1984 Back In The Saddle Tour. Steven Tyler was too messed up to sing on the Rock In A Hard Place Tour. The band as a whole seemed under rehearsed on the Back In The Saddle tour. I haven't paid to see them since. I haven't been to big of a fan of their post reunion recorded output either.

Now if my Draw The Line show had been as good as this one, I might still be attending Aerosmith shows. Done with Mirrors was the last album I bought. I taped some songs off Pump when a friend of mine bought it. When it came time to re-buy the back catalog on CD I bought Box Of Fire which covers the original Columbia Records Years. I also bought Done With Mirrors, to me it sounds like an unfinished demo but I like it. Other than that I bought Pandora's Box because I like those types of packages, that has been it.
