Recording Notes:
- There was no test tone at the beginning of the show, kind of rare but I have seen it before.
- There are 2 locked groove Show Promo Beds with voiceovers from Bill Minkin, one with Blackfoot music the other with Triumph music, at the end of Side A. They have been encoded and moved to the end of the program.

Known Flaws:
- Some minor vinyl fuzz at the very beginning of "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme".

Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served the situation.
- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.

Other Notes:
- As a kid growing up in Detroit I looked forward to my summer trips to my cousin's house in Ypsilanti Michigan, a suburb near Ann Arbor. We used to bike ride to Ann Arbor and visit Al Nally's Music Store where I would by 8-track tapes. Al Nally's store had a studio in the basement where Blackfoot recorded Strkes. One summer in the store we heard music coming from the basement while browsing tapes. I asked the guy behind the counter who was playing downstairs and he hands me a Blackfoot Strikes 8-track and says "These guys". We listened a little longer and I bought Blackfoot Strikes and Blackfoot's Flying High as well. That's how I became a Blackfoot fan.
- Blackfoot was so named due to the Native American Heratige of 3 members of it's original line Rickey Medlocke is a mix of Lakota Sioux and Blackfoot on his father's side, Creek, Cherokee and Scots Irish on his mother's side: Greg "Two Wolf" Walker is Eastern Creek: Jackson Spires is French and Cherokee on his fater's side and Cherokee on his mother's side: Charlie Hargrett is the only original member not to be of Native American Desent.
- I find it odd that King Biscuit chose 3 songs by Triumph that were all sang by Gil Moore.
- The cue sheet lists an "Encore Medley" for Triumph but that is just what they called the ending of "Nature's Child"

Alright the one thing everyone who visits this blog should know is that if it's a Draftrevoi then it's a quality encoding. This is a Draftervoi so therefore a quality encoding. It's also a great pairing and example of 1980's Hard Rock Radio. Early on we got the sanitized version of the Hard Rock / Heavy Metal scene. I'm not kicking sand at either band here. Triumph is a great Hard Rock Traditional Heavy Metal band. They were an awesome live band or I wouldn't have paid to see them 4 times. Billy Squire had a good Hard Rock band backing him and he wrote some great hooks. Almost every song on his second album Don't Say Know was an FM Radio Hit. There are 3 tracks from that album I don't remember hearing on the radio. The thing is that a lot heavier bands were releasing great albums. Black Sabbath is a great example because you would hear "Paranoid", "War Pigs", "Iron Man" and "Heaven And Hell". That's the ones deemed tolerable for radio. I have a DJ Copy of Alice Cooper's "I'll Never Cry". Next to the title is the word tolerable. When they first started playing Metallica, it was their slowest track "Fade To Black". You do need this great Hard Rock / Heavy Metal show...I mean it's Live versions of "Blinding Light Show" and "Rock And Roll Machine"!!!

This is a great simulcast show from Triumph on tour for my favorite Triumph album Thunder Seven. I like Thunder Seven because it really combines the dual personalities of Triumph's song writers perfectly. Gil Moore always had more of the Hard Rockers while Rick Emmett had more of the Melodic Rockers. Thunder Seven combined their talents the best in my opinion. It just has a better feel to me. Like "Rock & Roll Machine" and "Magic Power" if you play the studio versions to some one who doesn't know Triumph they may not think it's the same band. However if you play "Spellbound" and "Rock Out Roll On" they fit together better, they flow. I love every album the original line-up released but my go to is Thunder Seven. As for Edge Of Excess, I have it on vinyl, I bought it used along with Surveillance to complete my collection.

A nice recording from Triumph's heyday. A great set with all the fan favorites of the time period. A great performance as well, except I do question the decision to put the drum solo in A World Of Fantasy. I think it would have fit better in one of their heavier numbers. Rick and Gil are in fine voice, and the band is very tight. I'm not quite sure but I think the Detroit gig was at Joe Louis Arena.

In 1984 Triumph released what fans and critics both agree was the high water mark of their songwriting prowess Thunder Seven. Triumph was always more of a two headed beast when it came to their music. Drummer Gil Moore wrote AOR/Hard Rock anthems while guitarist Rick Emmett wrote more melodic introspective songs. Combined efforts on Thunder Seven brought the best of both styles into each song. The album sales were marred however by the record company's decision to release the album only on CD at a time when CD players were still unaffordable but to relativly few people. Sales were lacluster even though the band had two hit singles, "Follow Your Heart" & "Spellbound", forcing MCA to press vinyl and cassette copies to try and recoup sales losses.

Another great CD combining two short Triumph radio shows. Although there are a couple repeated tracks, I doubt most Triumph fans are going to complain about two versions of "Lay It On The Line" or "Rock And Roll Machine". This boot catches the band on tour for their Just A Game & Allied Forces releases.

Released in 1979 Just A Game is the album that brought Triumph to the forefront in the world of Hard Rock. The two hits "Hold On" & "Lay It On The Line" garnered the band plenty of air time on Album-Oriented Rock Radio which in turn brought bigger audiences to the shows. The album also delivered them to the world market. The follow up album Allied Forces increased the bands status even further with the hits "Magic Power" & "Fight The Good Fight". Triumph was now headlining arenas the world over, and influencing a new generation of Melodic Hard Rockers to come.

This decent sounding, show ripped from my bootleg DVD, was an MTV concert broadcast back when MTV actually played music. The channel was new and played anything music that was shot on video. This was great news to a lot of bands who's careers were made by heavy rotation of their videos. Triumph's star was already on the rise from some radio friendly hits, MTV gave them a push over the top to super stardom.
