If you downloaded and liked the first night you need the second night. A different setlist some songs the same but a cover of "Space Captain" made this Joe Cocker fan stand up and sing!! The Black Crowes never play a song the same way twice so having a soundboard 2 night stand is the way to go.

- I decoded the file and converted it to stereo 16bit/44,1khz with Goldwave v6.83.
- I used Goldwave's Stereo Center function to extract some of the center signal to boost the side signals.
- Deleted 11 seconds of silence before show.
- Deleted 45 seconds of crowd noise at the end of the show.

This 3 hour long concert from Mark Knopfler's 1996 tour is a great listen all the way through. The uploader says that this show has the best version of "Calling Elvis" ever. Not sure I can actually say that since I have not heard enough versions of the song yet. Mark's playing is phenomenal, the band is tight, the audience is really into it too! All the makings of a great listening experience. There is some radio noise on "I'm the Fool" right at the beginning, it's over quick, but loud. It's the only blemish so all Mark Knopfler fans really need this.

Here we have another great show from Frank Zappa. If you loved the last couple of posts from Frank, you're going to love this one lots of lead guitar. I think I need to go back a few more years next time, highlight a different era. This was a recent acquisition of mine. I downloaded it from a website called 24bit Music. They have a lot of commercially available content but a bootleg or two comes up often enough that I check the sight semi regularly. Anyway I have been listening to this show too much that's how good it is!

Draftervoi's Notes:
The July 7, 1979 Ian Hunter show from the Berkeley Community Theatre circulated widely on the “Drunk On Wine And Wisdom" bootleg. For many years, that was one of the only Ian Hunter bootlegs available.

But if you have that bootleg....check this out. I digitized this in July 2011 from an uncirculated master cassette.

The cassette is of a later rebroadcast of the July 1979 show that I believe to be from October of 1980. The deejay refers to the show as a “Rock-tober Special” which gives us a month, and the Don Wehr Music City commercial references the start of the Iran - Iraq War (“while Iran and Iraq are cutting each other in half, we’re cutting prices in half….”) which started in late September of 1980….so that gives us October of 1980.

I left the Don Wehr commercial in;  I used to buy guitar equipment there (as did most of San Francisco's famous bands, and they also rented gear to many touring bands playing the Fillmore and Winterland...)   Plus, its tasteless, topical and references vintage effect pedals ("even the Ayatollah could use a Crybaby Wah-wah pedal about now...").  It gives you a feel for the era when a LOCAL guitar emporium was running ads on a LOCAL radio station.  While I enjoy Guitar Center as much as the next guy, it's not the same!

There is a long tape flip at the start of “Cleveland Rocks,” so I used a patch from the 6/18/79 Cleveland show to make the gap less jarring. (Yeah, I patched "Cleveland Rocks" with a patch FROM Cleveland.....) The last three songs had increasingly worse radio static and distortion issues, but I spent many hours minimizing the problems with Audacity.

So....it's still not perfect (there must be a copy without a tape flip....), but most of this is better than any copy you've heard before, if you owned the bootleg LP. The first three quarters of this sound incredible, for a thirty year old tape.

My friend has been collecting FM recordings on Reel to Reel for years. Recently he came by with his tape deck so I could digitize his collection for him. So I retained copies of the ones I wanted as my fee for the work. He said I could share them as long as I give him credit for the tapes. For these distributions he has chosen the name Danibus. His tapes are always a little low on bass so I used a ten band EQ on them. Nothing else was done to alter them.

Alright there is some question about the Early & Late show thing actually happened. There is a listing for the Early & Late show set lists on Setlist.fm. I also found at concertarchives.org no listing for 2 shows on March 16 but 1 for the 16th and another on March 19. While others think that Disc 2 is just a better version of the March 16th show. I haven't listened to it that close (just in the background while cooking dinner to make sure it plays well). What I will say id that both discs sound great and it's classic Boston live so Enjoy!

Known Flaws:
- The vinyl had a bit of the little "dimples" that vinyl can have. These usually can't be heard. Unfortunately some made audible noise.
- There is a long ambient keyboard intro and outro on the song "America" which was very hard to clean up there will be some vinyl "artifacts" that are still noticeable. These were not able to be cleaned up without doing more hard to the sound of the recording so they were left as is.

- Recording is said to be at The Ritz in New York City, New York. An internet search finds the date April 3, 1987 listed on both setlist.fm and concertarchives.org.

Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.

- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.

Other Comments:
- Paul Kantner formed The KBC Band in 1985 shortly after leaving Jefferson Starship and finishing  of court procedings between  Kantnar, Grace Slick and Bill Thompson.
- The KBC Band unfortunately did not last more than one album and the following tour. Kantner went on to re-form The Jefferson Airplane. It seems Paul Kantner was on a constant musical search for something during the 1980s.

Known Faults:
- Cue sheet says Ellen Foley's "What's A Mater Baby (Is It Hurting You)" is at the end of the show. It is actually between "Rock 'N Roll Hoochie Koo" and "Love In Action"
- Some small markings on each side not many at all made any noise.

- All guest artists also played their own set although they were shorter than a normal set

- The Rick Derringer set was released as a King Biscuit Flower Hour CD release called Rick Derringer And Friends, however the only friend included on that CD is Edgar Winter.
- Ellen Foley would be known to most Rockers of the era for her guest spot on Meatloaf's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Ellen Foley was replaced on the tours by Karla Devito.
- Question, is it me or does the very beginning of "On My Way Up" sound a bit like "The Peter Gun Theme"?

Compilation of dates from Frank Zappa's Last Tour in The United States 1988. Three vinyl editions were released. There was this edition which has 2 black vinyl LPs. There was an edition that had 2 blue LPs, also another that was 1 Pink LP and 1 Blue LP. There has also been a CD with only 14 tracks, ending with "Florentine Pogen". Tracks sound like monitor mix but are very good to excellent audience recordings. There are a lot of tracks that have fades between them.

Frank Zappa did release a live album from this tour, none of these tracks appear to have been used. Matter of fact all songs on Broadway The Hard Way were constructed from more than one performance matrixed together.

The date listed as Detroit, Michigan 02/26/1988 was actually at The Royal Oak Music Theater, Royal Oak, Michigan.

LPs cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning system prior. The records were then treated with D4 applied with a velvet cloth. A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used prior to a flat transfer to CD-r. Large pops were removed manually with Goldwave small ones were left.

This 2LP set was given to me by an Aunt when she heard I collected bootlegs. She admitted it was not in that great of shape, however it sounds pretty good after cleaning.

Now there is a long notes section on how this show was recorded and how it was remastered and reconstructed. I didn't post it all here but it is still included on the info text in the art & info folder. There was a bit of work done and the show does really have good sound. Bill Evans is a great pianist, this show is a compilation from a 9 day stint at Arènes et Jardins de Cimiez, in Nice France. Bill's Trio is joined by some great guests including Stan Getz and Lee Konitz. I bet this will make a great listen in the evening with a glass of wine and a bowl of some nice green stuff.

This is a really good sounding recording from Outlaw Country Legend David Allen Coe. Sounds like it was ripped from a vinyl bootleg source. Joining David on this recording is none other than guitar wizard Warren Haynes. Fans of David hold this particular band in high regard, some going as far as saying that this is the best era of David's career. I must say I see this as one of many high water marks in a long career. If you love Outlaw Country, David Allen Coe or just good Country Music this boot should not be missed.

David Allen Coe is the living embodiment of Outlaw Country, having spent plenty of time in correctional facilities starting with reform school at age 9. Coe spent the next 20 years in and out of jail cells. He was convinced to start his career in music by none other than Screamin' Jay Hawkins who he spent time with in prison. He came to the attention of Country Music insiders by living in a hearse outside of the Grand Ole Opry. Soon he was writing hit singles for the like of Tanya Tucker,  Billie Jo Spears, and Johnny Paycheck. These hits furthered his own recording career. When the I.R.S seized his home in Key West, Florida, Coe moved into a cave in Tennessee! To paraphrase one of David's songs .. If that ain't outlaw country, I'll kiss your Ass.

In 1999 Coe met Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrel Abbott, struck by the similarities between country music and heavy metal the 2 started to work on Rebel Meets Rebel a County Metal hybrid that was released 2 years after Dimebag's murder at the hands of a crazed fan of Pantera.

Former Drifters singer takes us on a trip down memory lane. Covering his career with the Drifters and his solo success. The living legend also pays tribute to, John Lennon and Sam Cooke, with a great interpretation of "Imagine", and a Medley respectively, and Wilson Picket with "The Midnight Hour". Ben's career has spanned many decades. First charting in 1959 with the Drifters' "There Goes My Baby" Ben had many more hits with the Drifters and as a solo artist. He even hit the charts collaborating with The Average White Band. The LP Benny And Us spawned 3 singles, hitting #25 on the R&B charts with "A Star In The Ghetto". Ben remains active as of this post, releasing the Heart & Soul CD in 2011.

This is show 1 of the BigO Jazz Archive that I kept (I'll be sharing more). I have quite a bit of their Jazz posts some of which I have shared before. So those of you who visited BigO frequently may have this one. I've included the notes from BigO's post below.

This show is a killer performance from a line-up you would expect nothing less from. Don Cherry, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian. Each one a Legend in his own right joining forces to blow a lot of minds in 1 hour. It doesn't get any better than this!

Because there was a problem with the audio in the original FM source, it was in mono which is what you’ll get in the first track here. Unclewolfi’s capture of the rest of the show is in brilliant and gorgeous stereo. There’s always a possibility of the station airing the complete show in stereo one day as they often do which will make this edition unnecessary, should it ever emerge.
