Quadraphonic Digitization of Pop Special - BBC Pop Spectacular Featuring Genesis In Concert 137492-SQ from a DVDA downloaded from a Russian Torrent Tracker. For those who prefer MP3 encodings I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip a dual wave instead of a quad wave rip. This gets the same mix but only in stereo since MP3 can not be encoded to SQ-Quadraphonic only Flac works in this situation, unless you want a DVD audio encoding.

Okay that info is out of the way. Of course this Pre-FM SQ-Quadraphonic DVDA comes from our friends at The Genesis Archive. They of course find the best sources of well known shows. The DVD had not only the Quad Pre-FM but the audience recording in stereo but it was not something I thought I would listen to more than once. I didn't even finish it.. You will definitely enjoy this BBC Special Broadcast in your collection...I know I was real happy when I found this.

The SQ-Quadraphonic Flac set is huge so it is broken into 4 parts ALL parts unzip separately. The Stereo Flac Is in 2 Parts and will unzip separately as well.

I just watched a documentary about Jeff Healey's Blues Club in Canada. I had no idea that he had a club.  That he was successful at it and had to move from his initial club to a larger one. That new club hosted a lot of great musicians. It also gave Healey a chance to kind of road test new material before taking it on the road or recording it. The documentary taught me a little about the full on hometown pride that Canadians had in Jeff Healey. Quite a few call him Canada's Answer To Stevie Ray Vaughan. I myself am still pondering that comparison. I am a big fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan, I also really like Jeff Healey's music. My only problem with Jeff Healey was like Robert Cray, their albums seemed a little over produced, too polished maybe. In comparison both sound a little too clean next to Stevie's studio output. Now I have attended quite a few shows and own a lot of bootlegs...both Jeff Healey and Robert Cray have all the grit and fire in a live situation (I really feel that so no hate please)!

I was a little surprised that Jeff Healey played The Ritz In Roseville. It's actually been a Heavy Metal Club since I can remember. Not just any Metal Club but Thee Hair Metal Club. During this time my Thrash/Speed Metal band, Psychosis could not play at The Ritz. We were banned by The Ritz before we played there. We were banned from Harpo's Cocert Theater for playing Thrash/Speed Metal on "Heavy Metal Nite At Harpo's". It was Heavy Metal Day so we were playing some of our heaviest stuff and 3 songs in they pulled the plug yelling "Who do you think you are!?!? The F4#king Sex Pistols?!? Get Off The Stage Now!! Take It Back To Blondies Where you belong!!!" The guy's hand was huge and it freakin' hurt as he physically pulled me from the stage. They had to pay us since they broke contract...then we left. Next day we bought a big red ink pad and 2 custom made stamps. One said "BANNED FROM HARPO'S!!" the other said "TOO HEAVY FOR HARPO"S!!". We stamped all our flyers with it. This was great publicity. We sold out a Monday at Blondies. After that we got all the Saturday Nights we would play...sorry got a little off track enjoy the Jeff Healey Band at The Ritz (Hair Metal Bar LOL).

Another nice sounding audience recording from Geoff Tate former lead vocalist of Queensrÿche. This recording comes from Geoff's Big Rock Show Hits Tour which actually focused on more than just the hits (now I actually like these songs so now for my reactions to the choises) "Desert Dance" comes from the Tribe album, "Sacred Ground" comes from Q2K, "I Am I" & "Bridge" come from Promised Land (okay these are on the tail end of their hayday), "Cold" comes from Frequency Unknown, "Real World" comes from the Last Action Hero Movie Soundtrack, all of which comes after the bands "so called Hayday". All of which make this a real nice set from Geoff. I love Operation Mindcrime and Empire but damn there are other songs that would be nice to hear once in a while. Like this particular set. Rosbud actually pleasantly surprised by some of these choices. I mean "Cold" from Frequency Unknown. Geoff's Queensryche album with half of Hollywood's 1980's musicians playing on it. I own the original, not the remixed remastered re-release. It sounds like the demos for an album that haven't been fleshed out yet (I'm being a little polite). A really rushed affair, but "Cold" comes off sounding pretty damn good here. I hope his upcoming tours will include more of his solo material and material recorded with Sweet Oblivion.

Okay what do I say about this great little package....first I don't remember where I obtained it. Secondly with all the famous projects each of these 4 musicians have worked in together and apart. You know what this is going to be. Especially if I say, Acoustic Guitars, members of The Byrds, The Burritos & the Desert Rose Band etc..you can imagine the sound. As one of them says between songs "..Acoustic Music can be fun!"

This is a nice collection of both sets Flyte played while opening for Emmylou Harris. I don't know if Emmylou played acoustic.. I don't think I have a recording of her sets. I looked through the drives I have plugged in right now, none was found. Flyte really seems to enjoy playing together but this particular band didn't last long. It's a small chapter in a much longer musical story so enjoy!!

Now we come to this nice little gem! A nice little gem indeed! The fabulous Steve Miller Band running through a few songs at a rehearsal studio. It's a nice listen, something you will go back to for enjoyment time & time again. If you want The Blues or Rock it's got it! Oh I chose the picture of the band above because it looks like a bunch of students walking through a college campus heading to rehearsal.

Since the Charlie Haden post was a re-post I wanted to include something "new" as well. This is a nice sounding recording of yet another solo performance by The Legendary Keith Jarrett. The man was made for this, like Neil Young was made for all his solo tours. Kieth how ever will never tour again. He suffered 2 strokes and is now partially paralyzed on his left side. He has been able to rehabilitate his right hand by practicing that way I do believe it is twice a month. It's nice to know he can still do it a little in his private life. We do have tapes like this one to remind us how great he played. This should make you go and buy his commercial releases if you don't have them already! There is a lot of Keith Jarrett related shows on the blog check them out...he even played with Miles Davis for years!!

This is a very listenable audience recording recently added to Rosebud's Queensrÿche collection. Like me if she won't listen to it more than once she will not share it here. Geoff Tate has been more prolific in his music career since his "separation" with Queensrÿche in 2012. Tate has released 1 album under the Queensrÿche name, Frequency Unknown (which is pretty lackluster to say the least). A solo album, Kings & Thieves which was in production when the breakup came (and is a great album!). 3 albums were released with his band Operation Mindcrime (which are also kick ass!). Then also made 2 very killer albums with the band Sweet Oblivion (some of the best material Geoff has been associated with since the break-up). Sweet Oblivion actually headlined over Queensrÿche in at least one Festival situation.

To be fair Queensrÿche has released 4 albums with the modified line-up fronted by Todd La Torre. Todd La Torre has turned into a very active participant in the writing and recording of every album. Todd also played drums on 2019's The Verdict since Scott Rockenfield it seems will not be returning to the band. That leaves 2 founding members in the band, however guitarist Mike Stone has returned. Mike was first to fill the empty guitar chair when Chris DeGarmo left. There has been a few big money offers to re-unite the Classic Era Line-Up of Queensrÿche, all but Geoff Tate has dismissed them. Geoff states if they could sit in a room and talk it over maybe, but for the remaining members it would have to be about the money, which they don't really need. It's not going to happen, fans need to move on and enjoy the music while they can, the boys are not getting any younger!
