Nice sounding recording and an awesome performance from the Adrian Belew Power Trio. The band includes a nice helping of King Crimson tunes in the mix, too. If your a fan of Adrian's work at all you really need to add this to your collection. I downloaded this from the Voodoo Wagon blog so thanks go out to them. There are  a few different people who post at Voodoo Wagon, one of which is our good friend Draftervoi. Check them out for a nice variety of bootlegs.

I have a soft spot in my heart for this show. I was in the audience that night. I arrived just before the band went on (no idea about if there even was an opening act). There was no seating available so I wove through the crowd and positioned my self in front of the stage. There was a nice gentleman next to me, and we kept nodding our approval  after each song. After the show we chatted a little and exchanged e-mails. A little while later he e-mailed me a link to these MP3 files. I am not sure if he recorded it or not but I appreciated the tunes. It's the only time I've heard from him too.

Original Upload Notes:
Tracks 18 & 25 * are two pretty long sections of enthusiastic crowd noise. I left them so you get the whole concert exactly as it has been recorded. For your listening pleasure, you may want to burn a CD without these two tracks.

Tracks 11 & 12 ** (fade-out & fade-in) were added to make a more pleasurable listening experience at the end of the first CD and at the start of the second one. When listening on a computer or any media that can accommodate more than 75 minutes of music, you can simply leave these two tracks out, so you get the whole concert in one go.

Think of this as the live album from the Frank Zappa United States Tour 1980 that should have been made. Compiled by JWB from uploads by Drew51, Erroneous, LudzNL, Yojimbo & flambay at http://www.zappateers.com. I really enjoyed this show, every song was picked by JWB by determining which performances he liked and had what he thought was a great performance by drummer Vinnie Colaiuta who he felt made the band great that tour. They also had to be unreleased. JWB's notes are included in the download.

Alright Frank Zappa Fans what we have here is yet another bootleg with the same idea as Shut Up And Play Your Guitar. 3 CDs worth of Frank Zappa guitar solos, that's almost 4 hours of guitar. They range from soundboard to audience recordings but everything is enjoyable. I figured I kept giving you re-posts of Frank Zappa stuff from my collection it was time for something new from my archive. I downloaded this one from an ed2k link with EMule! Anyone remember that? Well some people still use it and it's where I found this. I scour the net so you don't have to. So like I said it's just seconds short of 4 hours of Frank Zappa guitar solos so I hope you have some free time!

I own a copy of this CD, it came with a used Frank Zappa Shut Up And Play Your Guitar Box Set that had all the Shut Up And Play Your Guitar releases in it. It was a CD-r copy included in the box in a paper CD-r sleeve with Lost Guitars written in red marker. The reason I did not post mine is because this Captain Acid Remaster is an improvement on the sound, which is very good I might add.

Just like the famous Shut Up And Play Your Guitar series of albums, this disc is made up of guitar solos. Like Shut Up And Play Your Guitar the solos are awesome, and the editing is very good. I recommend this one to any Frank Zappa fan, especially the fanatics.

This is a great recording from Frank Zappa's 1984 Tour. It's over 3 hours so I hope you have some time to kill listening to it. The recording was made by WLIR-FM for broadcast. I don't know if the whole show was broadcast or if it was edited down from the 2 sets. Discogs said the whole set was made from the FM broadcast so that is the source I cited.

I downloaded this from a website called 24bit Music (link provided below). It's all flac files there but most of the content is commercially available material. Some of it is out of print and/or hard to find (which is what I look for there). Every once and a while some bootlegs get added as well. I snapped this up as soon as it surfaced there. It's been a week and I can't stop listening to it.

The Flac file set is rather large so each CD was uploaded separately and can be opened separately as well.

When this first popped up from what I gather no one knew where it was recorded. Somehow the mystery was solved and it was determined to be from a venue in Detroit, Michigan. My back yard so to speak. I will say I wish I could have been at this one. Jean-Luc Ponty, George Duke, Ruth Underwood etc, it's one of the best live line ups you could get, if only Flo & Eddie were there too!

Anyway there was a bit of work done on this one by all the people who's names follow the title. It's explained on the included info text file. This is a great listen so grab it fast because the link is permanent.

Here we have another great show from Frank Zappa. If you loved the last couple of posts from Frank, you're going to love this one lots of lead guitar. I think I need to go back a few more years next time, highlight a different era. This was a recent acquisition of mine. I downloaded it from a website called 24bit Music. They have a lot of commercially available content but a bootleg or two comes up often enough that I check the sight semi regularly. Anyway I have been listening to this show too much that's how good it is!

Jefferson Starship Recorded at Queen Elizabeth Theater, Vancouver, British Columbia February 19, 1983
Missing Persons Recorded at Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA on December 31, 1982

I have had this sitting on my hard drive for far too long. It's like one of those Ultimate 1980s CDs...Ultimate 1980s Live!!! Jefferson Starship just before the re-naming to Starship and Missing Persons in all their see through plastic clothes glory. This is part of the soundtrack to JustDave Goes To High School. Both bands were Hot at the time. You couldn't turn on an FM station, walk into a teen club or an arcade without hearing the hits of Jefferson Starship and Missing Persons.

JustDave's Notes:
Cover Art downloaded from Discogs, my scanner is too small for album art

Compilation of dates from Frank Zappa's Last Tour in The United States 1988. Three vinyl editions were released. There was this edition which has 2 black vinyl LPs. There was an edition that had 2 blue LPs, also another that was 1 Pink LP and 1 Blue LP. There has also been a CD with only 14 tracks, ending with "Florentine Pogen". Tracks sound like monitor mix but are very good to excellent audience recordings. There are a lot of tracks that have fades between them.

Frank Zappa did release a live album from this tour, none of these tracks appear to have been used. Matter of fact all songs on Broadway The Hard Way were constructed from more than one performance matrixed together.

The date listed as Detroit, Michigan 02/26/1988 was actually at The Royal Oak Music Theater, Royal Oak, Michigan.

LPs cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning system prior. The records were then treated with D4 applied with a velvet cloth. A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used prior to a flat transfer to CD-r. Large pops were removed manually with Goldwave small ones were left.

This 2LP set was given to me by an Aunt when she heard I collected bootlegs. She admitted it was not in that great of shape, however it sounds pretty good after cleaning.

So I had planned on posting this a little while ago but with all the crap I went through with Blogger over Filefactory it wasn't posted. This is a very nice recording from Frank Zappa's 1976 Tour. The cool thing for me is that Frank has Grand Funk Railroad drummer Donny Brewer play drums on "Dinah Moe Humm".

Frank Zappa produced Grand Funk Railroad's final studio album with original bassist Mel Schacher. The band had already broken up after the release of the album Born To Die. Grand Funk wanted Fank Zappa to produce the album but it didn't happen. When Frank Zappa admitted interest in producing an album by Grand Funk Railroad the band reunited just to record with Frank!! The resulting Good Singin' Good Playin' actually had Frank Zappa playing lead guitar on the instrumental track "Out To Get You". This was the last Grand Funk recording at their own studio "The Swamp" in Fenton Michigan. The swamp is still in operation. My band Psychosis were lucky enough to have recorded our debut album there. When I told my guitar player that Frank Zappa had recorded in the very studio we stood in it seemed to put that little more to his playing we would get from him live, Frank being one of his biggest influences.

That's right! Almost 5 hours of classic Frank Zappa performances. This box set even includes the Saturday Night Live performances from 1976 and 1978! I'll never forget the sketch about Frank meeting a bunch of hippy fans. Someone introduced John Belushi's character to Frank saying something like "We call him Window Pane because he did 100s of hits of Window Pane Acid listening to Freak Out! To reach the state you were in recording it" to which Frank says "I don't do drugs". At the time I didn't believe it. I later read one of the musicians that worked with him said the band would hide their drug use because Frank didn't like his band doing drugs. He remembered a conversation with Frank that went something like Frank "Why do you do drugs anyway?" Musician "Because it magnifies my personality" Frank "Yeah but what if you're an asshole?"

My original young teenage fandom of Frank Zappa came from the songs with the funny lyrics like "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow", "Broken Hearts Are For Assholes", and "Montana". As I grew more mature I grew to like his more serious musical pieces which were more like Jazz Fusion. When I was 16 my favorite Zappa 8-track tape in my car was Sleep Dirt. I then moved to his Classical music and then really started to enjoy the more weird stuff like Lumpy Gravy. Now in my over 60s I have not met a Frank Zappa album I do not like. I have more Frank Zappa CDs and Bootlegs than I do Black Sabbath, Deep Purple or any other band I love. Now that is actually saying a lot!!

Now this box set is pretty big so I divided the Flac files into two downloads to help those without pro MEGA accounts. Both parts will open separately.
