JustDave's Notes:
- I got this from another collector who gave me all the info he had on the show which was not much, it was given to him the same way. As 6 unedited flac files, 2 cue sheet scans, some cover art and an audio checker text which said it was lossless.
- I decoded the files and indexed the tracks. After that I re-encoded them to FLAC Level 8
Known Flaws:
- Original rip lineage unknown but the tracks were cut on sector boundaries when checked prior to indexing tracks.
- Vinyl noise can clearly be heard, it looks like Westwood One used the BBC Transcription Albums to make this Two CD set.

I was on a Genesis kick this week (expect some Steve Hackett solo material this week) so I thought I would pull this Brand X show out for one of the Sunday Jazz posts. I had a friend who only knew Phil Collins from his solo music and the later Commercial Era of Genesis. He would refer to Phil as the Cabbage Patch Kid. So one day I pulled out this Brand X recording and played it for him. He loved it, then I told him Phil Collins played the drums for Brand X at the time. His response was "Wow Cabbage Patch Kid can play the drums, who knew".

Quadraphonic Digitization of Pop Special - BBC Pop Spectacular Featuring Genesis In Concert 137492-SQ from a DVDA downloaded from a Russian Torrent Tracker. For those who prefer MP3 encodings I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip a dual wave instead of a quad wave rip. This gets the same mix but only in stereo since MP3 can not be encoded to SQ-Quadraphonic only Flac works in this situation, unless you want a DVD audio encoding.
Okay that info is out of the way. Of course this Pre-FM SQ-Quadraphonic DVDA comes from our friends at The Genesis Archive. They of course find the best sources of well known shows. The DVD had not only the Quad Pre-FM but the audience recording in stereo but it was not something I thought I would listen to more than once. I didn't even finish it.. You will definitely enjoy this BBC Special Broadcast in your collection...I know I was real happy when I found this.
The SQ-Quadraphonic Flac set is huge so it is broken into 4 parts ALL parts unzip separately. The Stereo Flac Is in 2 Parts and will unzip separately as well.

LPs cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning system prior to a flat transfer of the vinyl to CD-r. A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used prior to LP playback on said system. The vinyl has some anomalies on every side. These look like dimples and little air pockets. These particular anomalies could not be removed. The LPs were actually almost unplayable until I used the HumminGuru Ultrasonic cleaner, it really made a huge difference.

Total time for this is over 80 minutes, so it won't fit on a single CD.
3 LP set, 5 sided, 6th side is blank
There is another Phil Collins Captured Live! show, numbered CL 1684, that may be a rebroadcast of these tracks. That show was broadcast on May 14, 1984 and is supposedly sourced from the Warner Theater, too... Last night of the "Hello, I Must Be Going" World Tour
I really don't need to tell you this is a great listen. It's a great encoding and a fine show too. Rosebud likes Phil's solo work a little more than I, but I will admit the guy can write Pop songs that people will eat up and make platinum. This Pre-FM catches Phil Collins leading his awesome band as he starts to dominate the Pop charts both solo & with Genesis.

Nice sounding recording from the final tour with Steve Hackett, Steve would depart for a solo career at tours end. Genesis would carry on with just the trio of Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and Phil Collins. The band would also take a turn for more commercial musical territory, too great commercial success as well.

Made fro the Pre-FM vinyl record set for Westwood One Superstar Concert Series #SS84-5. This recording has a slightly different set list than the Pre-FM recording here. That recording comes from Draftervoi and made from the Pre-FM vinyl of Westwood One Superstar Concert Series #PAN84-2.
