Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost are a Southern Rock band who's singer, Ruby Starr sang back up vocals for Black Oak Arkansas. If you're into Southern Rock at all you should check out Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost. They are everything you would expect for an off shoot of Black Oak. Raucous, Funky, a Little Wild and a confidence on stage fit for a headliner. It's kind of like Jim Dandy helped Dale Krantz write the Rossington-Collins Band's songs instead of Gary Rossington and Allen Collins. I personally will be searching out their studio releases now.

Another gem of a recording from Mike Millard. I'm willing to bet that me posting a Todd Rundgren show might be a surprise because I only post what I listen to. I actually do listen to Todd Rundgren, I'm not a fanatic but there is some of his stuff I do appreciate. It wasn't always that way though. I had heard "Hello It's Me" and "I Saw The Light" on the radio but no more. It changed one day when my cousin Jamey and I were walking to the corner store to play video games. Under a bush by an intersection I saw a record. It was Todd Rundgren's Something/Anything and it was in pretty good shape. I took it home and listened to it. I was not to impressed then and put it away and did not play it again for a long time. It was after my guitar player played me Todd Rundgren's No World Order in 1993. I revisited Something/Anything with the same mindset I did when I listened to Frank Zappa's early records with the doowop stuff. As a musician that quickly became bored with the 2 and a half minute POP Song Format. When I first listened to the album I had no idea what Ant-Pop was. I do now I guess...Anyway this is a great sounding audience show that should be in every Todd Rundgren fan's collection.

To most Yes fans looking back at Tales From Topographic Oceans, the biggest disappointment wasn't the album, tour or Rick Wakeman's departure after the tour. It's that no soundboard or broadcast recordings exist from the tour. There are however 73 different bootleg releases of the tour. All audience recordings of differing quality from unlistenable to this great Mike Millard audience recording. In my humble opinion if you want one good recording from this tour this is the one to have. The sound is really good, Mike the Mic had a great position and with The JEMS Team's great work with the transfer you have an awesome listening experience!

Now the notes say no known faults but there are a few little cuts that didn't alter the listening experience at all. This is an awesome show and a little bit special as it starts with an acoustic set which most on this tour did not. The electric portion of the show starts with "Take It Easy" and includes "King Of Hollywood" with an extended guitar solo at the end. Other highlights are a cover of Poco's "Keep On Tryin'", "Those Shoes" and 4 Joe Walsh solo tracks. This Mike Millard Master recording should be in all Eagles fans collections!!

The latest in the Mike Millard Masters being released through JEMS is this excellent recording from David Crosby & Graham Nash.

We recently posted a very good audience recording of the Stills-Young Band from Dan Lampinski. That recording highlighted some of the very things that added up to Neil Young leaving the tour early. This awesome recording from Mike Millard, shows you just what Stephen Stills and Neil Young were hoping for. The audience is right where David Crosby and Graham Nash want them. They hang on  every word and note coming from the stage. They laugh at the pair's self deprecating humor. The audience noise is almost non existent during the actual music but engaging with the duo in between songs. Unfortunately we only get the acoustic portion of the show the electric performances are missing. What we do get however is 'EFIN AWESOME!!!

Ahhh If You knew Suzi like Detroit knows Suzi, she wouldn't be an opening act. The woman who played Leather Tuscadero, Fonzi's girlfriend on Happy Days Can Really Rock!! Although diminutive in stature (she is shorter than her bass) she is a 10 foot tall Live Rock n Roll Powerhouse. Even my Mom knows who Suzi Quatro is due to the song "Can The Can" which my Mom bought on 45RPM single. You know Mike Millard didn't record too many opening acts so there is another stamp of approval for checking out Suzi Quatro!

This one is to help everyone to get over the hump today. The weekend is almost here so lets Rock! This is a great recording and the band sounds like they are really enjoying making music together. The audience sounds like they are really enjoying it too. They don't get in the way much but are present in the mix. It's a Millard recording of Stephen Stills and guest Bonnie Bramlett a name that should be a whole lot more well known in Classic Rock than it is. One of the most under rated vocalists of the 1970s along with Marcy "Marcella Detroit" Levey. Both ladies had more Soul in their voice than a church choir. Enjoy my friends!!

Well here is another of the Mike Millard Masters & 1st Generation Cassettes being released by JEMS. This time everybody's favorite working men Rush. This was during the transitional period where shorter songs and keyboards started taking over the Rush machine. The older songs would start to be relegated to a couple medleys for a time.

The  addition of Geddy Lee's keyboards and peddles just added to the spectacle of Rush. A band that by this time in their live career they didn't make perceptible mistakes during a performance. You have to watch the big screen to catch the hints of a mistake. Neil Peart would scratch his head really quick if he thought he made a clunker. Alex Lifeson kept his head down if he made a mistake but Geddy Lee would laugh. If Geddy Lee made what he thought was a goof he would throw his head back and smile. All the while the bad note or drum hit wasn't noticed by the mass of fans in front of them. At least this was my take away from Rush live. I'll tell you, and I don't want to come off preachy, since I stopped partying hard at shows I enjoy them more. I notice more and remember more. I went to see Emerson, Lake & Palmer opening for Jethro Tull at Pine Knob with my friends. My buddy Joe raved about Jethro Tulls set. I had to remind him that he passed out after E.L.P.'s 3rd song. We left him sleeping on the hill till it was time to leave. He said "Really?" LOL!!! Enjoy the music!!

Wow! Can you believe it's time for Sunday Morning Jazz already. I don't know about you but I have had a busy week and I am ready to listen to some Jazz, sip my coffee, and watch the wind dance through the trees in my backyard.

What a show, what a recording the Legendary Mike Millard recorded the Legendary Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock! I really shouldn't have to say anything more but I am going to. This recording can be called soundboard quality! It is one of Mike MIllard's best recordings by far. That is saying a lot, but since it was such a laid back atmosphere Mike Millard was able to make a great audio capture. The audience never steps on the sound of the performance at all. The soundboard man had an awesome mix, everything presented on the stage is clearly heard. The performance is everything you would expect from two of the best keyboardists in Jazz...Enjoy the show my friends!

Hot off The Trader's Den, this should please both Rolling Stones and Mike Millard fans alike. The latest in the list of Mike Millard Masters being released by JEMS is a 1975 show from The Stones! I know I'm pleased as punch! The 1970s is my favorite era from The Rolling Stones, especially with Mick Taylor. I was a little disappointed when Mick Taylor left, but Ronnie Wood was just tailor made to be a Rolling Stone (and I just realized the pun maybe I should have written it as Taylor made lol). Just take a look at his look for example. Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart had the Keith Richards hair do. The Faces live show presentation was the same as The Stones...drunk at the pub with my mates Rockin' n' Rollin'. Also The Faces wrote great Rock & Roll songs in the same vein as The Rolling Stones. Ronnie Wood's guitar playing style just compliments the hell out of Keith Richard's guitar style. At the start of the tour Ronnie was listed as just touring with the band helping out his friends. By December it was decided Ronnie Wood was a Rolling Stone. I do believe it wasn't till the 1990s that he was made an actual partner in The Rolling Stones.

Known Faults: A couple of dropouts from issues during the original recording in "Tarkus", most seamlessly repaired in mastering

This is the latest Mike Millard Master Tape released by JEMS. Emerson, Lake & Palmer were on tour for their Brain Salad Surgery album, considered by many fans to be their best work. My go to E.L.P. album is Tarkus but then again I have an eccentric taste I've been told. I mean my go to Black Sabbath albums are Sabatage, Never Say Die and Born Again. My go to Pink Floyd is Meddle, My go to Aerosmith is Draw The Line, with Santana it's Caravanserai and with Bob Seger it's Seven.

At the end of this tour the band would take an extended break to plan their next move musically. It wouldn't be till 1977 that the follow up album to Brain Salad Surgery would be released. Works Volume 1 came with mixed reviews, seen as "bloated and self indulgent" by most due to the "solo sides" by Emerson and Lake mostly. Myself I say, like Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, between Works Volume 1 and Volume 2 you can make one good album. But hey that's just my opinion other's are just as valid.

What shouldn't be over looked at this time though is E.L.P.'s triple live album. Welcome Back My Friends To A Show That Never Ends...Ladies And Gentlemen Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It's a 1970s Live album with no overdubs!! Like Deep Purple's Made In Japan and Grand Funk Railroad's Live Album nothing on the album was fixed!! In a time when live albums were either heavily overdubbed like say Judas Priest's Unleashed in The East where all Rob Halford's vocals were re-recorded. Some live albums like Kiss' Alive and Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive were basically re-created in the studio. The live recordings for ELP's Welcome Back My Friends were also used for the King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast. This post is turning into the script for Ben Hur so I'll end it by saying Enjoy the music.

This recording from Mike Millard had gone largely uncirculated due to the fact that Mike himself gave the recording a poor rating. From what people say he was his own worst critic (aren't we all). The recording is anything but poor, the audience is a little rowdy, which is why I give it a Very Good Audience rating rather than an Excellent Audience Recording rating.

This is a great show from this tour, which was cut short by the way, an accident with Ozzy on a motorcycle, I mean the guy didn't learn his lesson either given his quad runner accident in the early 2000s. This show was actually recorded as a favor to Mike Millard's concert going friend/recording partner Jim. Mike actually decided to record the opening act Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost, a Southern Rock band fronted by Black Oak Arkansas backup singer Ruby Starr. Mike Millard is known to most bootleg collectors, the new collectors will know him in time as we do. As one of the greatest Audience Recording Tapers ever. He has recorded countless shows all of which are sought out by bootleg collectors. This great recording comes from one of the greatest live acts of their day Rod Stewart & The Faces. Their Drunk At The Pub brand of Rock was perfect for the live stage. Lead singer Rod Stewart had blossomed into quite the charismatic frontman. A big difference to his hide behind the amplifier days of The Jeff Beck Group. He also learned to control his singing so as not to lose voice all the time (he was plagued by this in The Jeff Beck Group). Ronnie Wood's time in The Faces was the perfect pre-audition for his future as a Rolling Stone (it got his foot in the door not to say it was handed to him). As for the rest of the group, this team of musicians were able to write and record enough music for 2 careers to blossom. The Faces as a band & Rod Stewart as a solo artist. So this combination...great song writing and a high energy we are just You on stage attitude, audiences everywhere were hooked. Enjoy my friends!

I almost did a happy dance when I obtained this recording, seriously! I am a huge Foghat fan. I have worn out untold numbers of 8-track tapes, cassettes & vinyl copies of all Foghat releases since seeing them on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.

A point of agreement between Me, my close Metal Head Friends & my close non-Metal Head Friends (I do have those lol!!) are copies of Foghat Live, Fool For The City, Night Shift and Stone Blue. When I played a Foghat Mix-Disc I made for my son Spider he says to me "These guys are one of the old school bands that made you guys want to play faster aren't they..listen to the double bass drums Dad! That's awesome shit" end quote. I replied "It now seems like a natural step from Foghat to Anvil but a lot of my friends didn't see it that way back in the early days of the Heavy Metal scene".

Anyway this is yet another great Mike Millard Master Recording. A little less audience noise in this one compared to the Joe Walsh recording. Enjoy Friends!!

Another great Mike Millard recording for your listening pleasure. This time from my favorite member of The Eagles (sorry I was a Joe Walsh fan before I was an Eagles fan). My first time hearing Joe Walsh was when a girl brought the 45 single for "Rocky Mountain Way" to school. We were in elementary school and we could bring in records to play during class free time and for recess if we stayed inside. I remember I bought my own copy soon after. My first time hearing The Eagles was when I was still in elementary school and heard "New Kid In Town" on the radio during the bus ride home. I know Joe Walsh was in the band a short time compared to the rest of the band, my favorite of the Joe Walsh-less era is of course Glenn Frey, what a great songwriter!

This Millard recording is as great as all the rest. The audience is a little chatty but not too bad. The listening experience is not affected by audience so. enjoy!!!
