Recording Notes:
- There is a locked groove test tone at the beginning of Side A for radio stations to set output levels before broadcast. It is not included in this encoding.
- Although the cue sheet states there are 2 promos at the end of Side C there are no promos included.
- Another odd thing about this record set is that between when the John Waite portion ends and the Axe portion of the show starts there is no locked groove in between. Usually when a new segment starts there is a locked groove between the ending and beginning segment.
Editing Notes:
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System prior to playback.
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LP prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials, and voice overs.
- All editing done in 24bit/96khz
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served situation.
Other Notes:
- John Waite, former lead singer of The Babys was on tour for his first solo album Ignition.
- The song "Change" was written by Holly Knight while in the band Spider. The song was on the bands second an last album. The album also was the first recording of "Better Be Good To Me" which would be a hit for Tina Turner. Spider also had Anton Fig, of the Late Night With Letterman band, on drums.
- John Waite had help from some note worthy musicians in his backing band. Lead guitarist Frank Linx worked with Eddie Money, Pat Benatar and Del Lords. Rhythm guitarist Ivan Kral has worked with Shaun Cassidy, Blondie, Patti Smith. and Iggy Pop. Bassist Donnie Nossov played with Pat Benatar. Drummer Frankie La Rocca played with Scandal, David Johansen, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams as well as produced The Spin Doctors debut album. While keyboardist Peter Reilich has worked with Gary Wright, Persia, Alessi Brothers, The Strand and Foreigner.
- Axe was on tour for their third album, Offering.
- Only one song in Axe's set, "Running The Gauntlet" was not from Offering. It appeared on the prior album Living On The Edge.
- After Axe's 1984 tour, lead guitarist Bobby Barth and rhythm guitarist Michael Osborne were in a devistating car crash. Michael Osborne died while Bobby Barth suffered terrible injuries. The band broke up and Barth worked on other projects. The band reformed in 1997 and are active to this day.
- Original Axe drummer Ted Mueller passed away June 29, 2012, he was 57.
