This is one of the best sounding shows and a great performance from Boz Scaggs. He does my favorite Boz Scaggs song "Loan Me A Dime" and lets his bass player run amok during "Low Down". This one is a must have for all!!

I personally can not get enough Boz Scaggs bootlegs. He's one of my favorite artists and except for television have never seen him perform live. I have never heard a bad performance from him either. I have numerous shows form him and have played them all to the point of annoying some people. Never heard a bad one. So of course you need this boot.

Man I have loved Boz Scaggs every since I heard "Loan Me A Dime". This recording has a great 19 minute version of it that is worth the download alone. If your a Boz Scaggs fan I don't have to sell you. If all you know is "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown" or bought the Silk Degrees album for those songs in the 70s your there too, so download this one and enjoy. If you never heard Boz Scaggs um.. it's a free download right lol.

This tape shows it's age in spots but is a very good listen. I personally can't get enough live performances of "Loan Me A Dime" and this is a fine one. I have had this one in such heavy rotation on my MP3 player that the guy who car pools with me has started commenting about it. I think I'll give him a break for a while.

The date that comes with this show was July 23, 1995, but all references that I can find say that Boz Scaggs played The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles California July 21, 1995 and William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Ca July 22, 1995. What ever the right date is, this is a fabulous performance with great sound!

The beginning of the DVD starts without sound so I edited the first track for a smoother playback. I slightly remastered the audio. The right channel had significantly quieter volume so I adjusted it to match the left. I brought out the high end a little more as well. Boz let's his back up singer take the lead vocal on "I Thank You/Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" a mash up of the tunes made famous by Sam & Dave and Sly & The Family Stone.

Draftervoi's Notes:

This is sourced directly from the KBFH discs.  There is a streaming audio version available but it does not include "Middle Man."  This show is often attributed to April 5, 1981, but that is clearly the broadcast date of the KBFH show, as it is the date printed on the KBFH record label. It's likely that this is from November 26, 1980.  That show was simulcast via satellite with more songs.  However, the set list I've seen of the simulcast does not include "Lowdown."

In 2013 I digitized the Boz Scaggs / King Biscuit Flower Hour show that was broadcast on April 5, 1981. That's the broadcast date of the syndicated discs, the actual show is likely to have been recorded on November 26, 1980.

This is direct from the KBFH discs. I cleaned the discs with Titebond II wood glue and then went through it all on Audacity and declicked the show, one click at a time. I've tracked all the commercials and KBFH breaks so they can be left out if they're of no interest. There's one "star turn" where Dave Mason does a pretty heartwarming commercial for Miller Beer that may be of interest to Dave Mason completists. He really "sells" the commercial.

The sound quality is top-notch, the drums really snap, the two background vocalists are well-defined...all in all, it's worth checking out even if you already have the show archived.

One thing that always struck me about this show is that Boz explains that "Georgia" was about a friend locked up for a love affair with a 13-year-old.... nowadays we'd call that pedophilia, but he just sort of passes over it as if it was normal. Times change....
