Ron Keel formed the band Keel after the breakup of the band Steeler. Steeler was a band that featured both Ron Keel and a young Yngwie J. Malmsteen before he joined Alcatrazz. Somewhere around this time Ron Keel was temporarily in Black Sabbath. It's said that he recorded some demos with the band but they have never surfaced, unlike the Jeff Fenholt tapes.
Keel (un)luckily landed a contract with Kiss' Gene Simmons and $immons Records. Gene Simmons produced 2 albums for Keel before $immons Records folded. This lead to the need of a new contract. Being a young band any loss of momentum no matter how small can cost a lot. The world of Heavy Metal was moving at the speed of Speed and Keel kind of was left in the mid-ground they sold albums but never became big stars. Band members started shifting. At one point Ron Keel started a solo Country Music career. He now keeps the Country career along with a revamped Keel.
