justdave's notes:
I increased the volume of the tracks and added a fade in and fade out, no remixing of any kind was done. This is a real nice sounding acoustic solo performance from Aerosmith's lead vocalist. Aerosmith hits, Tyler's single "Love Is Your Name" and Janis Joplin's "Piece Of My Heart" are all given an Acoustic Country Rock flavor. Steven Tyler has plans of becoming a Country Music solo artist with the release of his first solo album in 2016.

For our next Women Who Rock post we have an offering from New Wave of British Heavy Metal Legends Girlschool. Could they Rock?  They had the seal of approval from none other than Lemmy Kilmister. Lemmy took Girlschool out on the road with Motörhead. The two bands even recorded together as Headgirl on the St. Valentine's Day Massacre EP. Girlschool also toured with Deep Purple during the US leg of their Reunion Tour. I saw that tour in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. Girlschool opened the show and was booed of the stage after maybe 4 songs. They performed really well, but the audience wanted Deep Purple. Rodger Glover came onstage after Girlschool had left it and stated that Deep Purple was disappointed in the treatment of Girlschool and would not be coming on stage any earlier than planed out of respect for the band. It's not the first time I've seen a very good band opening for a name act and have them booed off by a Detroit audience that just wants to see the headliner. I went to see Ozzy Osbourne at The Masonic Temple on his first US tour with Randy Rhoads and Motörhead was the opening act. They got through 4 songs before leaving to a loud chorus of boos. The band had just sold out Harpo's Concert Theatre just weeks before. I was really looking forward to seeing them as I couldn't get tickets to the Harpo's gig, I so disappointed in my fellow Detroit Rockers.

Guitarist Kelly Johnson died July 15, 2007, at the age of 49, after a 6 year battle with  spinal cancer.

Nice sounding recording of Megadeth's appearance at the 1999 Woodstock Festival. Dave is in real fine voice at this show, and the band is playing real tight. The only minor problem is the amount of material from the Risk album. Megadeth kind of lost me around that time with their experimentation with Techno/Industrial flavorings to their sound. There are fans who like the album but I sold it back to the CD store the day I bought it (at least I bought it.. I haven't bought a Metallica album since ..And Justice For All). The band fractured around this time in a cloud of personal and creative differences.

Megadeth actually broke up in 2002 after Dave Mustaine relapsed into drug addiction. Mustaine actually couldn't play guitar during this time due to nerve damage to his left arm. There were reports that the injury was due to a dirt bike accident, and reports that it was nerve damage from shooting up. The official story is that Mustaine fell asleep in a chair with his left arm over the back of the chair, when he awoke the arm was paralyzed. Dave Ellefson publicly claimed the injury was a lie and Mustaine was just suffering from drug addiction. Additionally Ellefson claimed Mustaine gave him control of Megadeth when they disbanded and short changed him on royalties. After the lawsuits played out Ellefson was welcomed back into the reunited Megadeth.
