Some New Boots & A Couple New Links

 You may notice that this weekends shows were all chosen by Rosebud. I've been kinda busy downloading recordings from a couple sites that I'm pretty addicted to. The sites feature rare pressings of recordings by artists. Some of which are known names and some are a little less on the radar like Sir Lord Baltimore. The sites are like sister sites called Rockasteria and Plain And Fancy. I have added them to my blog list at the left and recommend checking them out. The also have 2 chat boxes on the site one for messages and one for links so people can share their collections. I have joined the chat box and will be sharing some of my own extensive collection.

I deleted some links on the blog list. They were sites that went inactive for a long time or went private. I have more sites in mind for the list but I want to check with the person or persons that run it first.

I picked Jazz artists who I recognized by name and Joshua Redman is definitely one of those. Dave plays him a lot. He even has a special Pandora channel for him...Unlike Dave I don't like what he calls Experimental Jazz...To me it sounds like a bunch of guys playing different songs at once (she says this every time) so there won't be any experimental picks this weekend...This is a very nice show for kicking back and relaxing with a glass of wine and a doobie...

For this postings entry into our History Of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Rosebud chose The Mighty Metal Gods Black Sabbath (Dave bows and flashes the horns) Rosebud had this to say.....

Beside this being the first bootleg Dave ever bought me I picked this because Black Sabbath helped write the book on Heavy Metal....So many bands have been influenced by them. Blue Oytster Cult, Saint Vitus, Candlemass, and even Guns And Roses...Dave read me interviews where B.O.C said they wrote "Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll" to challenge Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" for Heavy Metal Radio Anthem Power...He then demonstrated how the songs riff is the same as Black Sabbath's "The Wizard"...To show me this he played B.O.C. then Rob Hallford's version of "The Wizard" on Nativity In Black. Rob & The Bullring Brummies slowed the song more than it's normally played...It sounds like a heavy cover of "Cities On Flame" (compare them, it's true JD). He then showed me how Guns And Roses slowed down the riff from "Zero The Hero" for the main riff or "Paradise City" (yep true again!)

Out of print live album from Relapse Records Underground Series Live, Strictly Limited To 1000 copies.

I kinda forgot about the Out Of Print Live Album series. But Rosebud didn't....She pick one from her CD collection, Bongzilla's limited edition live E.P. (she owns all their CDs).

Bongzilla is one of my favorite Heavy Metal Bands...They play Stoner Sludge Doom, which means they play slow Black Sabbathish riffs, lots of feedback, and more distortion than TV after midnight in the 1970s... All their songs center around the joys of smoking pot, pot culture, and on and on...Their songs also have samples from movies, or speeches with people talking about pot. The vocals sound like the singer is holding a hit or ragged from smoking...Best played loud with a sub woofer on!!
