I had ordered this recording from an online CD store but it never came. Now the site is closed. As fate would have it I went shopping at one of my favorite used CD stores and they had a copy. This store will copy any Bootleg CD that they receive then sell the CD afterward. They will also sell the copies for a smaller price than the original. That is how I obtained this copy. The CD-r I bought is most likely a 1st Generation copy but I have listed it as unknown generation since I am not 100% certain. I downloaded some art from Gig In Japan which has been included.

I included this in a Kansas download as a bonus but I kind of botched that so We figured lets just post them for you. Of course everyone knows Steve Walsh left Kansas over the Christian lyrics being written by Kerry Livgren. Steve was replaced with John Elefante. Kansas had already recorded some demos for Vinyl Confessions with Steve Walsh. These are those demos.

Talk about a before the fame post! Kansas before the classic line-up came together. Still playing Progressive Rock but more in the mold of IF. There is ample use of the horns in the band. It's interesting to hear early versions of "Death Of Mother Nature Suite" and "Incomudro (Hymn To The Atman)" with horns!!! The tape must be up there in the generations or just a really old source. Although it shows it's age the avid Kansas collector and the casual fan alike may enjoy seeing what the band was like before being famous. Oh I found a photo of a flyer for Kansas at the Opera House advertising FREE BEER! to pack the house because an agent or producer was coming to the show. A great tactic!!

We have been on a bit of a Kansas kick at our home. I have been transferring my boots from a 5TB and a 4TB dive to a 22TB one. It's been a long process that is not quite finished. It however has been fun going through the archive finding shows that we forgot we had. Like this beautiful little item here. It's  only 22 minutes long but it sounds Great yes with a capitol G!!!  Every Kansas fan Definitely should download this show!!!!

I mean it every Kansas fan download this one here even if you have it in you're collection. Why? Because there is a little extra surprise inside since the show is so short!! What kind of surprise you ask? You can never go wrong with a Dan Lampinski recording just like with Mike Millard. When PRRP gets involved in remastering a show...it becomes the best version it can be. So here we are, the PRRP Remastering of this Classic show.

In Rosebud and My humble opinions, this version of this show is a must have. I have the original master and even that one would have been a must have. It's the performance as well as the recording. Kansas are on FIRE!!! The performances and the arrangements are phenomenal!! It's a You really have to hear it yourself thing. Any Kansas fan will be blown away by this show!

Our Salute To Progressive Rock Bands Series entry this time is from Kansas touring to support their 3rd album Masque. Kansas' debut and sophomore efforts were a little at odds. The Hard Rock leanings of Steve Walsh clashed a little with Kerry Livgren's Prog-Rock leanings. Masque seems a little more like Steve & Kerry were coming to a common ground. "Icarus - Borne On Wings Of Steel", "Child Of Innocence", "Mysteries And Mayhem" & "The Pinnacle" are long standing fan concert faves. This common ground worked for 2 more albums that would put Kansas on the radio and the charts. Leftoverture and Point Of Known Return are both certified Platinum 4 times each. Kansas' habit of writing chart friendly music gets Progressive Rock purists in a bit of a snit. They call them and other Prog bands that achieve commercial airplay and large arena shows Pomp-Prog. Well this Kansas, Saga, & Asia fan says purists can kiss Steve Walsh's Platinum Records and shut the hell up.

Rosebud's Tribute To Her Favorite Singers continues with a double shot of Steve Walsh and Kansas. Not that she doesn't appreciate the vocals of co-vocalist Robby Steinhardt. It's just that she likes Steve's soaring vocals a little bit more. When a band has more than one lead vocalist it's not unusual that one may find a little more favor with Fans than another. It's like in Kiss I prefer Peter Criss' whiskey & cigarettes Soul vocals to Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley or Ace Frehley. The Beatles, I prefered John Lennon's vocals to Paul's. This was especially in the later years. John Lennon's vocals had an angst to them that was adopted with great affect by Punk Rock Vocalists. It spoke to me more than Paul's Syrupy Soulful delivery for some reason. Don't hate because I love Paul just a matter of personal taste.

This is a bit of an upgrade from the prior posting of this show. For one thing that one was posted in MP3 192kbps, this one is in Flac and MP3 320kbps. This one also has a clear lineage and is supposedly from The Original 48 Track Master.

This DVD was sourced from a VHS tape. The source tape did have some flaws here and there from age (ie: tape slpage and a little fluttering) however this is a very enjoyable listen. I played the DVD through my stereo and recorded it to CD-r. I then extracted the waves using EAC and encoded them to MP3 320kbps because the audio was lossy.

After Steve Walsh left Kansas he released a solo album called Schemer, Dreamer recorded with the help of members of Kansas. After that he formed the band Streets with future Kansas bassist Billy Greer. The band released 2 albums before disbanding and Steve Walsh's return to a reformed Kansas. This Pre-FM recording includes the unreleased Streets track "Shake Down" which makes it a must have for fans of Steve Walsh, Streets or Kansas for that matter.

A great sounding recording and show from Rosebud's Kansas collection. This one is special because it is the last broadcast to feature the original line up of Kansas. Steve Walsh would leave shortly after this show for a solo carear. Dave Hope would not return to Kansas until the recording of  Somewhere To Elsewhere in 2000. The cover art says the date was in 1984 but the date is actually 1983. There was a really good website with all the tour dates Kansas did in their career and if any recordings existed of the show. Alas when I checked it before this post the site was no longer available. This is a great show from this period, Kansas would go on hiatus after this tour.

Great sounding recording from Kansas' tour to promote Leftoverture, an album that peaked at #5 on the US Album Charts and went quadruple platinum. The PRRP people did a fine job putting this one together. They not only remastered a Pre-FM source for the Kansas show, they also included a radio interview with Kansas about the show (this was from an alternate source). Also from an alternate source is a recording of the nights opening act Ambrosia.

Like many bands, Kansas used radio concerts to get the word out that they were a live act worth putting your hard earned money down see. This CD captures two shows from the early years of the bands career and shows just why they grew to the heights they did. Kansas was always a great live band, who let their audience know they really appreciated the chance to perform for them. The music was always well written and the lyrics thought provoking. In one college music theory class, my professor chose "Carry On Wayward Son" as an example of a perfectly crafted song.
