Run Out Grooves:
Side A : KB-427-A MCR JOE
Side B : KB-427-B MCR JOE
Side C : KB-427-C MCR JOE
Known Faults:
- On visual inspection there is one long superficial looking scratch across Sides A & C not Side B.
- Records very clean on arrival, cleaning on this one done out of habit.
- Volume on this one mastered kind of low causing vinyl noise (rumble/roar sound) more prominent.
Recording Notes:
- There is a locked groove test tone at the beginning of Side A for radio stations to set output levels before broadcast. It was not encoded.
- There are no promos included for this show, this doesn't happen often.
Editing Notes:
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System prior to playback.
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LP prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable balanced: Needle Tracking, Azimuth, Pressure & Antiskid Dialed In: Soundcard stereo field maximized: Goldwave always set to record while filtering any offset:
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served situation.
- A 50khz cut off Highpass Filter was applied to some of the more quiet parts to mitigate some of the vinyl noise (rumble/roar sound).
- A couple times in the recording someone on stage with Graham Parker has there amp make a loud bassy noise. I tried to soften it but did not edit it out.
- Some minor flaws may still show after all the work, we are after all working with vinyl sources.
Other Notes:
- The Graham Parker portion of the show had been released on King Biscuit Flower Hour Records. King Biscuit Flower Hour Records folded and the CD went out of print. It has been picked up by a known grey area bootleg label and re-released.
- Sparks is an American band but Bill Minkin introduces them as being from Australia.
- The band version of Sparks did not last long. The group became a duo consisting of the Mael brothers.
