Awesome set from alternative kings appearance at the ill fated 1999 Woodstock. This was the Moshpit Generations Altamont. The festival ended in fires, riots, and rape. This set isn't mired by any bad vibes at all, giving way to a chant of Love, Love, Love, a testament to the charisma of lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyck. Ed hits the stage with a mile wide grin and delivers each emotional song with that same smile, truly enjoying this experience, and feeding that energy back to the audience.

The Wavey Gravey segment is an attempt by the promoters of Woodstock 99 to connect to the festival of the past. Wavey Gravey was given a microphone and would go through the audience asking them to say something to Woodstock. The resulting quotes would be shown on the screen during bands sets.

Alternative Rock giants Live on Westwood One during their heyday, well before the split. It seems almost cliche for bands to part ways with their original vocalist these days and replace him with a sound alike. Joining in on that band wagon Live have added a new vocalist, who sounds real close to Ed Kowalczyk. I have a recording from the new line up that I will be posting later for those curious to hear them. But for now you should download this fabulous piece of Live's history.

An acoustic performance from Live with new lead singer Chris Shinn. Chris does a pretty good job sounding like former lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyk. Now like others that have replaced famed lead singers, Tim "Ripper" Owens of Judas Priest, Jason Scheff of Chicago, and that short guy in Journey, Chris Shinn is no dead ringer but if you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The sound quality is really good, wish I could find a lossless version, until I can we have to deal with MP3.

I converted the TS Video file to wave using Goldwave. I then used Goldwave to divide the tracks & lower the audio volume a little due to some clipping. The TS Video file had lossy audio so  I converted them to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.

Another fine performance from the reunited 1990s Alt-Hard Rock giants Live. A younger cousin of mine introduced me to Live's music. Rather fitting as her mother was my Aunt Red who played a large part in my musical education. The Aunt who introduced me to Frijid Pink when I was just 5 years old (I met them at a rehearsal of theirs). I in turn introduced her daughter Panacea to Thrash Metal and Punk music as well as all my Detroit Metal & Punk Scene friends. Anyway Panacea played me the debut album Mental Jewelry and I was hooked. As a Metal Head I felt my choice was vindicated when Kerrang Magazine gave the album I do believe 5 out of 5 star review (it may have been a 4 out o 5).

I personally am very happy this band has reunited the original line-up.  The band is on tour and also writing new material for the first album by this line-up since 2006's Songs from Black Mountain. Live has reunited with original lead vocalist Ed Kowalczyk. The band and Kowalczyk had split in 2009 to work on other projects. The split became permanent with Live adding Chris Shinn to replace Kowalczyk. There was the usual name calling and insulting that followed of course but now the band is back together with plans to tour in 2017.

This is a nice sounding recording from Live's appearance at the annual German outdoor festival. The guitars are a little low in the mix, bringing Michael "Railo" Railton's keyboard work to the forefront. It gives the songs a slightly different feel but does not ruin the listening experience. Adam Duritz of Counting Crows joins in on vocals for "Lightning Crashes". The extended jam in "I Alone" was credited as a Dr Dre cover but since Dr Dre actually took it from a Parliament/Funkadelic song I change the tagging to give the Funkmaster George Clinton his due credit.
