Nice Pre-FM recording from The Cars on tour to promote their debut album. The band performs tracks from the first album as well as tracks from the then unreleased Candy-O album and 2 outtakes from the first album "Take What You Want" and "They Won't See You". These tracks would go unreleased until the double CD remaster of The Cars LP. Benjamin Orr was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2000, he continued to play with his band Big People playing his last gig with them September 27, 2000. Ben passed away October 3, 2000 he was 53.

A nice recording from The Beatles before Beatlemania would take over the USA. In a few months the band would make their Ed Sullivan debut and The States would never be the same. Soon long hair and Beatle Boots would be the fashion. The world of Pop Music wouldn't be the same either. Before The Beatles bands were backing groups to singers, such as Buddy Holly and The Crickets, but The Beatles were a group, every one was considered a star in the band and no one was expendable. When it was suggested to the band to dump Stuart Sutcliffe the only replay was He's a Beatle. John Lennon was taken from us by a crazed fan who's name I haven't said since it happened. On December 8, 1980 John Lennon was returning home from a recording session when a cowardly gunman shot him 4 times in the back, he was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital. He was only 40 years old. In 1997 George Harrison was diagnosed with throat cancer, which they thought had been successfully treated. George's cancer nightmares were only beginning. In May 2001 George had to have a cancerous growth removed from his lung. He then underwent treatment for a brain tumor in June of 2001. In November of 2001 it was determined that Georges lung cancer had spread to his brain. George Harrison died November 29, 2001, he was 58.

Nice recording Ozzy Osbourne supporting his Ultimate Sin album. The Ultimate Sin was a huge hit for Ozzy and spawned a hit single in "Shot In The Dark". Ozzy was once again sporting a new band. Along with Jake E. Lee on guitar was Phil Soussan on bass and Randy Castillo on drums. Phil and Randy were former members of Lita Ford's band, a lot of core Ozzy fans reacted negatively. The band however fit Ozzy's new sound, Ozzy was chasing the charts and the LA Glam Metal scene at the time. When Ozzy returned with No Rest For The Wicked anchored by Zack Wylde, Randy Castillo was the only one of the Ultimate Sin line up that was still in the band. Keyboardist Mike Moran, who played on The Ultimate Sin didn't even make the tour, John Sinclair of Uriah Heep did. Randy Castillo remained with Ozzy until after the No More Tears Retirement Tour. Randy joined Mötley Crüe afterwards and played on the New Tattoo album. Randy Castillo died on March 26, 2002 at the age of 51 from Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a fast spreading form of cancer.

It's Been A Year!!!

 

Today marks the First Anniversary of The New JDP. We started December 8, 2013, after having the original Just Dave's Place closed by Blogger. The original site was running for about a year when it was closed down, but since this is a completely new page we are not counting that time. It has been a great year. Our first day that we were up and running we had 1000 page views, we have since settled into a respectful average of 600 visits a day. Rosebud and I would like to thank all those who visit, everyone from the ones who post comments to the ones who just visit and download some free music. We thank you all!! If not for you we would be doing this for nothing. We have made some new friends along the way, not going to list them because I don't want to forget anyone. We started with a simple pledge... To not post anything that we wouldn't listen to, as well as nothing that we don't listen to. In the coming years we will not stray from that original promise. That does mean that updates come a little slower because Rosebud and I have to both listen to each boot and agree before it gets posted. So in a nutshell thank you all for spending this year with us and we hope for many more to come!!

A great recording form Pantera on their Far Beyond Driven Tour. This was actually the beginning of the end for Pantera. According to band members, after a break in touring Phil Anselmo would start distancing himself from the band and acting quite strange. They figured it was Phil developing a big ego due to Pantera's success. Phil claimed it was due to severe back pain from his intense performing style. As it turned out Phil was addicted to heroin and would OD an hour after a homecoming gig July 13, 1996. The mounting tension between Pantera and Phil finally came to a breaking point in 2003 when the Abbott brothers formally broke up Pantera and formed Damageplan. During the first minutes of a Damageplan gig at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio December 8, 2004, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was murdered by a deranged fan. The gunman killed 3 others and had his gun at the head of another audience member when an off duty police officer, who was a Pantera fan shot and killed him.

Nice 4 CD set commemorating the time that Denis "Piggy" D'Amour was guitarist for Canadian Progressive Thrsah Metal band Voivod. During this time in the band Voivod experimented with their sound on almost every album. This collection has demo tracks from various albums and a live soundboard recording from the bands tour to promote 4th album Dimension Hatröss. Also included are some untitled demos recorded by Piggy in 1994 which would form the bases for the Negatron album. Denis "Piggy" D'Amour passed away on  August 26, 2005 from colon cancer that had metastasized throughout his body, he was 45 years old.

This is a rather large file set so I divided it into 2 parts.
