The Haunted was formed out of the ashes of At The Gates. At The Gates was one of the most influential bands to emerge from Sweden. At The Gates was one of the founders of the "Gothenburg Sound" or Melodic Death Metal. Not only did At The Gates influence other Melodic Death Metal bands such as Dark Tranquility and In Flames but were the most influential band on the Metalcore genre. In interview after interview early Metalcore bands more or less said their was only one good band in the world At The Gates. If you listen to early albums by Shadows Fall, All That Remains etc you will hear direct copying of At The Gates riffs. The Haunting brought those elements to a tight groove and kicked all their asses again!

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to adjust a couple track marks. No EQ, noise reduction, remastering or remixing was needed. The DVD had lossy audio so I used Trader's Little Helper to encode them to MP3 320kbps.

At The Gates is one of the most influential of the pioneers of the Melodic Death Metal sub-genre The Gothenburg Sound. Almost any Metalcore band from the late 1990's to  the early 2000's cite At The Gates as one of the most important influences to their genre. As a matter of fact a lot of them just kept rehashing Slaughter Of The Soul riffs, lifting them verbatim. It got to the point where there wasn't a lot of variety between the bands sounds. Luckily At The Gates has reunited to show all the copy cats what the real deal sounds like.
