It's the 3rd line-up of The Joe Perry Project. Now I don't remember if Joe had trouble keeping members or if he wanted to keep the line-up fluid. I thought it was great seeing one of my musical heroes in the concert theaters instead of the arena. In my naivety of youth I didn't even think Joe Perry might not want to be back in the theaters. I also thought both camps released really good music. Aerosmith's Night In The Ruts was actually the first Aerosmith studio album to disappoint me. They did release a great album with Rock In A Hard Place but to me the band never again released anything to match the catalog from the debut to Draw The Line. Now when I brought home Let The Music Do The Talking I could not believe the groove the band had. It had a more raw and funky feel to it, like the debut album, it blew me away. The last Aerosmith album I bought was Done With Mirrors. I thought it sounded unfinished like a set of demos. Isn't it funny, some bands you move along with as a fan, some you just let go of as they progress in their career?

Growing up Aerosmith was a huge part of my musical life. From the first time I heard them on the radio I was hooked. I can't remember what the first songs I heard on the radio were but I do know what album I bought first. It was the debut album Aerosmith. My parents had bought me my first quality stereo for my bedroom. It had AM/FM Stereo, an 8-Track Player, Reel To Reel, Equalizer, & Turntable. The speakers were huge and very loud. My Mom called it Stonehenge

When I first listened to Aerosmith's debut I thought it was as raw and funky as The Rolling Stones & as powerful as Led Zeppelin. Aerosmith was one of the few bands that I actually decided to buy there albums in the order released. This way I caught up to them by time Rocks was released. Draw The Line was the first Aerosmith album I bought before hearing any of it. I was so pleasantly surprised at the heaviness of the recording. It was not lost on me that Aerosmith had been trending heavier with each release. It was for the Draw The Line Tour when I saw the band for the first time live. At The World Series Of Rock in Ohio, I was so disappointed. I mean they did break up back stage that day. With fights between wives, band mates & crew mates and this was before the show. They floundered onstage and seemed to just peter out before walking off. Joe Perry would walk out permanently during the Night In The Ruts recording sessions (the first Aerosmith album to disappoint me)

I saw the band 2 more times after. Once on the Rock In A Hard Place Tour and the 1984 Back In The Saddle Tour. Steven Tyler was too messed up to sing on the Rock In A Hard Place Tour. The band as a whole seemed under rehearsed on the Back In The Saddle tour. I haven't paid to see them since. I haven't been to big of a fan of their post reunion recorded output either.

Now if my Draw The Line show had been as good as this one, I might still be attending Aerosmith shows. Done with Mirrors was the last album I bought. I taped some songs off Pump when a friend of mine bought it. When it came time to re-buy the back catalog on CD I bought Box Of Fire which covers the original Columbia Records Years. I also bought Done With Mirrors, to me it sounds like an unfinished demo but I like it. Other than that I bought Pandora's Box because I like those types of packages, that has been it.

I first heard Curtis Mayfield when I received his "Superfly" single for Christmas 1972. I received a few records that Christmas but "Superfly" left a deep groove cut into my musical mind. The intro to the song with it's solo bass line and rototom drums (which I thought were bongos until I looked the song up for this post) gave a sound that I hadn't heard before that pulled me in. In 1972 I was 7 years old and had my own stereo and a travel record player my parents let me ttake where ever I went. That "Superfly" 45 RPM 7 inch went with me everywhere for a couple years. That's when I was given a portable 8-track player and stated carrying tapes instead. That songs intro and Curtis' smooth soulful voice started me on my journey through "The Funk" and quickly lead to Parliament/Funkadelic, but that's another story.

Chris Youlden died from bronchial pneumonia April 4, 2025 he was 82

A nice collection of 2 nice sounding shows from The Legendary Savoy Brown. Founded in 1965 by Kim Simmonds, the band had a very fluid line up with Kim Simmonds the only remaining constant. The band launched the careers of 3 members of Foghat, lead singer "Lonesome Dave" Peverett, bassist producer Tony Stevens, and the amazing Roger Earl on drums. Kim Simmonds being a Road Dog kept Savoy Brown on what seems like 1 continuous tour from 1965 to when his treatment for cancer had him cancel the scheduled 2022 tour dates. He died roughly 4 months after he stopped touring.

This is yet another great sounding show from Santana's 1973 tour. We posted another not to long ago that included a newspaper article with a kind of bad review. This one includes another review, this time with a slightly better view of the show. When this one surfaced (and I don't remember when) it was an uncirculated 1973 soundboard.

I love this era of Santana, quite frankly Santana didn't lose me as a listener until "Smooth". That was only slightly so don't hate, I only skip that song. It feels like a very obvious grab for The Charts. Also my daughter, when she was a teen, wore me out on Rob Thomas and Matchbox 20. Sorry just don't care for them, my personal opinion. A lot of fans did abandon Santana at the changes that came with Caravanserai. The out right Jazz on the album wasn't a welcome departure from the Latin Rock of the first three albums. Then some fans turned their backs at the Hard Rock albums like Inner Secrets and Marathon. I've stuck with Santana through all of the changes except for one song so I guess could be a fan.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit track marks, adjust the volume of all tracks to be uniform, add fade outs/ins and cross fades. No EQ or noise reduction was used. The DVD had lossy audio so I encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps with Trader's Little Helper.

The recording shows a little age, and maybe a couple generations, not so much that it is unlistenable though. I never thought I would find a soundboard recording of Grim Reaper. Finding a Pro-Shot DVD from the only tour I caught them on was far from my mind. I heard of Grim Reaper through Hit Parader magazine. There was an add for See You In Hell. You could send a stamped self addressed envelope for the to send you a floppy sampler of Grim Reaper & White Wolf. The floppy record had snippets of "See You In Hell" & "Dead On Arrival" plus 2 unmemorable tunes by White Wolf. The floppy came with mail order info so I bought See You In Hell. I bought all the Grim Reaper releases, along with Helloween & Armored Saint. When I heard they were touring together I had to see them. It was awesome, this Metal Head was in Heaven.

The show has been edited to run like it was broadcast with no breaks for a CD1 & CD2 set. It will not fit onto a single CD-r, so if you want to burn an audio CD-r you will have to choose a spot for your CD break.
