When Steve Mariott left The Small Faces in 1968, in the middle of a gig, the band was left without a lead singer and guitar player. The problem was solved by hiring Rod Stewart to sing and Ron Wood to play guitar. The band changed the name to The Faces, in part because Rod & Ron were much taller than the rest of the band. The bands music had evolved too so a name change was due. The band lasted for 4 studio albums and one live one. The members of The Faces also took part in the recording of Rod Stewart's solo albums that were released at that time. The band split up in 1975 as Rod Stewart's solo career began to overshadow the groups efforts. We lost Ronnie Lane June 4, 1997 to pneumonia, a complication from his multiple sclerosis, he was 51. We lost Ian McLagan December 3, 2014 to a stroke at the age of 69.

This is one of the few Grateful Dead bootlegs that I have. It's a nice Pre-FM recording from their 1990 tour. The band was just recovering from the loss of keyboardist Brent Mydland to a drug overdose. Mydland had been with the Dead for 11 years, longer than any other keyboardist. The loss of Mydland greatly affected Jerry Garcia, who believed the chemistry of the band would never be the same. Jerry's drug use increased during this period to the point where several rehab stays came in the following years. Jerry's health also started to decline. We lost Jerry Garcia on August 9, 1995 to a heart attack, he was 53.  Keyboardist Vince Welnick was a former member of The Tubes before joining the Grateful Dead in 1990. He continued to play keyboards for the band until Jerry Garcia's death. Welnick also played with Bob Weir'sRat Dog after the Dead split up. Vince Welnick commit suicide on June 2, 2006 after a long bout of mental and physical illness, he was 55.

Nice sounding recording from Black Sabbath's tour to promote the Headless Cross album. The first of which to feature the powerhouse talents of drummer Cozy Powell. Cozy would play on 3 Black Sabbath studio albums, Headless Cross, Tyr and Forbidden. Cozy was quite the Rock & Roll journeyman playing on over 60 albums in his life time. Stints with Rainbow, The Jeff Beck Group, The Brian May Band, and E.L.P to name just a few had made the man quite famous. Cozy Powell died at the age of 50 in a car crash. It's estimated that he was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour, while talking on a cell phone in bad weather. All these factors contributed to his accident.

Ronnie James Dio formed the band Dio after leaving/being fired from Black Sabbath (depending on who is telling the story). The band Dio's music fit well right between the Power Metal of his Rainbow days and the Doom Metal of Black Sabbath. This made it easy for Ronnie to feature songs from the most popular eras of his career. Ronnie's Elf material as well as his Do Wop days were left untouched. Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer November of 2009. Ronnie underwent treatment and was reported to be responding well. Ronnie lost his battle with cancer on May 16, 2010, the disease had metastasized through out his body.

Nice recording made by King  Biscuit Flower Hour while Kiss was on tour to promote their 12th studio album Animalize. Animalize was the debut of Kiss' 3rd lead guitarist Mark St. John. Mark had been a guitar tutor and session player before joining Kiss. Mark's tenure in the band was rather short. He was diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome while the band rehearsed for the up coming tour. Bruce Kulick was enlisted to sub for Mark, who started out on the Animalize Tour. Bruce would wait in the wings ready to perform if Mark was unable to. Mark played his final gig with Kiss on November 29, 1984. Mark St. John died on April 5, 2007 from a brain hemorrhage bought on by an accidental overdose of methamphetamine, he was 51. Eric Carr, who replaced Peter Criss in 1980, died from heart cancer November 24, 1991 the same day as Freddie Mercury, Eric was only 41.
