About Filefactory Being Blocked In Some Countries

 It has come to our attention that some countries have blocked filefactory. We want suggestions of free sites that these counties can still access to use as a mirror site. We will continue to use Filefactory as the sites main service since We have paid for another year. We also Like to keep an archive of shows, so a Pro account at any site has to be used or they will delete files. Therefore a Pro account at Filefactory will be maintained. We do have a free account at Turbobit that We could use. There are options like Zippy Share as well. We're going to check what Speedy is using over at So Many Roads To Ease My Soul since it is the best, one of the longest lasting and one of the most visited bootleg site.

This show was  uploaded as January 9, 1968 Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs, New York. The SPAC is an open amphitheater so the date is wrong. The SPAC calendar for 1968 has The Doors along with The Smothers Brothers closing the season on September 1, 1968. So if this show is from The SPCA it's from September 9th. The tape is pretty bass heavy and has some his but still it's a soundboard recording from 1968 that hasn't been released as a Doors "Legacy" Recording yet.

An acoustic simulcast show (live on the radio as it happens). There is a copy of it going around that claims to be Pre-FM but I wonder how a simulcast could have a Pre-FM source. Must mean they taped it from the radio's board as it happened. Or it went out over the airwaves again as a syndicated show. Either is possible, just a stoner thought that kind of made sense.

This is a great little show I didn't know existed until maybe a month ago. I did a search on it and as far as I can see Bruce hasn't released this one yet. He has released a few nice "Legacy" recordings (as bands call the these days). I like to call them remastered bootleg material. Which some collectors hate them, because it takes trading bait off the table. I love getting the professionally mixed recording myself, so I'm a little different I guess. I have quite a few of the newly released Bruce "Legacy" live shows and the ones I have sound great. No over dubs but definitely remixed very nice compared to the old bootleg versions. At any rate enjoy this nice piece of Bruce Springsteen history.

Like I said I have been on a New Wave Of British Heavy Metal kick lately and Iron Maiden is one of the most successful from that time period. This is a great sounding recording made from some of the radio broadcasts and soundboard recordings from the 1980's. So basically it's like another Live After Death but more locations and dates used. Meaning A Great Live Album Of That Era! Oh and yes I know it's a stolen title from an Alice Cooper song...it's a bootleg, rules don't really apply, and I didn't make it.

The Flac set is a little large so the CDs have been uploaded separately, they will also open separately.

Quartz was "discovered" by Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath who took them under his wing so to speak. Iommi took Quartz on the road with Black Sabbath before this recording was made. He also produced their debut album Quartz. Not only did he produce the album but also contributed flute. Ozzy Osbourne guested on a track as well adding backing vocals. These were wiped from the mix by Iommi after Osbourne left the studio. Geoff Nicholls would leave Quartz in 1980 after Iommi asks him to replace a departed Geezer Butler. Geezer returned and Nichols was regulated to keyboards an 2nd live guitar, at side stage in the dark.

If you pay attention to "Mainline Riders" you can hear where Tony Iommi got the inspiration for "Heaven & Hell", "Country Girl" and "Headless Cross". All tracks written with Geoff Nicholls. "Heaven & Hell" is credited as written by Butler, Dio, Iommi and Ward. No credit to Nicholls. He does get one for "Headless Cross", both of which the rhythm and bass line sound very familiar to that of "Mainline Riders" while the guitar riff opening "Country Girl" sounds close to that of "Mainline Riders" too.

Deadline was to be the follow up album to Venom's Possessed LP. Possessed had not received very good reviews and sales were a little disappointing. With Deadline, Venom had announced they would be going in a different lyrical route. The songs wouldn't be about Satan or Satanism but drugs and other social type themes. The demos were as far as the band had gotten before guitarist Mantas left to go solo. Cronos and Abaddon decided to continue Venom and enlisted guitarists James Clair and Mike "Mykus" Hickey, to do so. Re-wring the songs from Deadline, Venom recorded The Calm Before The Storm. This album also caught flack, for being over produced. As a Venom fan from the start my personal opinion was both albums sounded a little half hearted. Maybe the band needed a break. They broke up after this album and tour cycle instead. James Clair & Mike "Mykus" Hickey joined Cronos' solo band Cronos. Abaddon formed a new line-up of Venom with original guitarist Mantas and Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan of N.W.O.B.H.M. band Atomkraft, but that's another part of the story.
