This is a great example of what Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show were like live. This is before the disco influence took over, when the band was a rowdy mix of Country Music and Rock & Roll. During the show the whole band walks off stage together, then the whole band streaks back across the stage buck naked. Streaking was a huge fad in the US in the 1970's and Dr. Hook did it a lot at their shows. This is a great performance and a nice recording. If you are a Dr Hook fan you really do need this show for your collection. Billy Frances passed away, at the age of 68, May 23, 2010 from complications after stomach surgery. Jance Garfat was killed in a motorcycle accident November 6, 2006, he was 62. John Wolters died at the age of 52, June 16, 1997, from liver cancer.

Sound quality is really good with a slight (very slight) trace of radio hiss at times. No drop outs or tape fades. The bands performance is excellent (of course).

Ripped from a white label vinyl bootleg LP. For those who don't know what a white label boot
is, it's just that, a record with a white label and no print on the jacket. Sometimes you would get a paper insert that told you the title and track list, most times the store owner wrote title and band name on the jacket. When I first distributed this recording I didn't have a date or location due to the fact that no info was on the jacket. A recent upload at The Traders Den has given me that missing info. That being said I must say this is my own encoding from my personal copy of this great bootleg.

The album was prepped with Pfan-Stat No.Sa-14 and the D4 ZeroStat Positive Ion Gun. Then played on a Sony PS-LX300H Turntable. It was tracked to a Maxell CDR-Music Pro disc with a Sony RCD-W500C CD Recorder using the super bit mapping setting. The waves were then imported to GoldWave v.5.04 for a passive pop/click fix ( I have found agressive pop/click fix will mess with sound quality) and track separation.

Shock Rock can trace it's lineage back to the flamboyant Screamin' Jay Hawkins, so it's rather fitting that Arthur Brown's cover of "I Put A Spell On You" is included here. Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Kiss, & King Diamond/Mercyful Fate all owe Arthur Brown money. Arthur Brown's extreme for the time stage make up definitely influenced the fore mentioned artists whether they admit it or not. His habit of finding new ways to set himself aflame on stage caused many promoters to force Brown to prove he had insurance against accidental fire damage. Many Heavy Metal artists have recorded versions of "Fire" most notably Ozzy Osbourne. The man has made a pretty big influence on the vast music scene, pretty good for a so called one hit wonder. Even Peter Gabriel admits a great debt to Brown for influencing his live performance style.

Nice sounding recording of a special show for Progressive Metal band Amorphis. The band plays a 30 minute acoustic set before plugging in for another 50 minutes. Of special note is the acoustic "clean vocal" version of "Sign From The North". The song  comes from Amorphis' debut album The Karelian Isthmus, which was a pure Death Metal album, the Progressive elements would come in later releases.
