Nice sounding recording of Joe jamming with a handpicked assortment of country & southern rock musicians. The interview sections are Joe and the guests talking about music. The only blemish on this great recording is that the editors chose to have Luke Bryan's comments as a voice over during Joe's guitar solo on "Life's Been Good". The great stuff far out weighs that small blemish, such as Joe & Brad Paisley trading off verses and guitar licks on "Rocky Mountain Way", and Billy Gibbons trading off riffs with Joe during "Life In The Fast Lane". Priceless addition to your Joe Walsh catalog.

Joe Walsh's appearance on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert was a special event thrown by Joe to celebrate the end of his solo career and the beginning of his career as a member of The Eagles. Glen Frey and Don Felder both join in with Joe's band for the festivities. The majority of the show has been released as the live album You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind (Now when Joe sings.. "Bases are loaded and Kirshner's at bat .." during "Rocky Mountain Way" you understand. If you don't have this great live album by Joe get it. I have only included the encores since they were not released on LP.

The J Geils Band has to be one of the greatest live rock & roll bands ever. This performance is a great example of the reason why I make such a bold statement. I have also seen them countless times and never failed to be completely satisfied by shows end. The last  time I seen them they played for almost 3 hours. Peter Wolf is a ball of energy that explodes repeatedly through out the show. His jive talking MC patter just as important to the J Geils live experience as Magic Dick's harmonica spotlight "Wammer Jammer".

I'm not sure if Alex Ligertwood actually sings on any of these recordings. He was the original vocalist for the revamped Jeff Beck Group, and helped write the album.

Nice sounding set of outtakes from the first album by this line-up of the Jeff Beck Group. This line-up would last only 2 years and two albums. The band announced their break-up shortly after completing their second album stating "The fusion of the musical styles of the various members has been successful within the terms of individual musicians, but they didn't feel it had led to the creation of a new musical style with the strength they had originally sought." IMHO they put out 2 great LP's that are still in heavy rotation on my stereo.

In early April and still signed to RAK, Jeff Beck reformed The Jeff Beck Group group with keyboardist Max Middleton, drummer Cozy Powell and bassist Clive Chaman and vocalist Alex Ligertwood. Later in April that year the new band began recording sessions at Island Studios, London. They worked on songs by Beck and focused on Situation, which had lyrics by Ligertwood. Other songs such as Morning Dew were given attention, with the help of producer Jimmy Miller, who had worked with Traffic and with The Rolling Stones. During May 1971, after a week of recording sessions, Beck left RAK and signed a new record deal with CBS. Epic, a subsidiary of CBS, was assigned to release Beck's work, and having heard the Island studio tapes were not happy with the vocals. During May, Beck started looking for a new vocalist. In late May, after hearing Bobby Tench perform with his band Gass, he employed him as vocalist for the band. Tench was given only a few weeks to write new lyrics and add his vocals to the album, before mixing resumed on tracks previously recorded by Beck and the other band members. During early July 1971 the band returned to Island Studios to finish the album and Beck took over as producer. Rough and Ready was released in UK on 25 October 1971 with the US release following during February 1972, a sixteen day promotional tour in USA followed and the album eventually reached #46 in the album charts.

On November 25, 1971 Stephen Davis wrote in Rolling Stone magazine; "A surprisingly, fine piece of work from a man who wasn't really expected to come back. Beck is back, and in pretty good shape too." Rough and Ready album review. On 25 November 1971 Roy Carr from The New Musical Express wrote, "The album falls into that trap whereby the performance far exceeds the material. Beck hasn't lost any of his fire as he rips off solo after solo with flashy confidence"

About the single "Got the feeling", Derek Johnson wrote in the New Musical Express; "An excellent disc combining a strong commercial element with an altogether more progressive approach"

An amazing recording, just Joe, a guitar player, a keyboard player and a laptop. The sound is outstanding. You wouldn't know it wasn't a full band backing the man if he didn't tell you at the start of the show. The performance is pure Joe, if your a fan like me you know what I mean. Every song the man sings he owns. He makes it intimately his own, his cover of U2's "One" is a perfect example. His voice seems tailor made to bring out the emotions in the lyric. Please no hate mail Bono is a fantastic vocalist and I love U2's version, but I think even Bono would applaud the master on this one. I can't even begin to put into words the interpretation of the Marvin Gaye classic "What's Going On". Or how he turns Screamin' Jay Hawkins' camp hit "I Put A Spell On You" into a torch song that you only hear on an old jazz 78 rpm record. You'll just have to download it and see.

This fine recording comes from the German leg of the Private Audition Tour. Ann & Company are in fine form running through a set of classic Heart tracks. Nancy even takes a turn at the lead vocal mike for "Raised On You". I personally haven't bought a Heart album since Bebe Le' Strange. I prefer the old rock and roll stuff to the Top 40 chart grabbing later years. I hold there achievements in deep respect though it's not easy to consistently hit the charts like that. So if your like me and you prefer the 70's style Heart than don't be afraid to download this show. If you're a complete Heart fanatic then you're already downloading so I don't have to convince you.

Peter Hammill of course is a founding member of Vaan der Graaf Generator. He performs a solo acoustic set here, so fans of Van der Graaf Generator will sure want this one. Fans of Genesis will also want this one because it is the best sounding of this show hands down. I can't think of a better way to start our Peter Gabriel era Genesis posts here at Just Dave's Place.

2 great performances from early in Foghat's career, including an 11 minute version of "I Just Want To Make Love To You". Also of note is the rare live recording of "Nightmare". Bassist Tony Steven's would leave the band early in 1975, due to his dislike of extensive touring.

A great show with Foghat jamming with some of their heroes. Shot in a somewhat documentary style, with voice overs from Lonesome Dave Peverett. The performances are awesome, Foghat backs everyone but Johnny Winter & Muddy Waters who play with Muddy Waters' backing group, then everyone jams on "I Just Want To Make Love To You" for the finale. Foghat fans and blues fans alike need this rare show. All proceeds from the concert went to developing a Blues Wing in the New York Public Library.

The DVD itself is made from a copy of the pre-broadcast tape, there are spots where it says insert commercial here. The tape appears to be of low generation. There was a big difference in volume and sound fidelity between the first 2 tracks and the rest of the video, I tried to fix this as best I could.

My track list doesn't quite follow the cover art but seemed a more logical separation to me. 9 of the named performers at this show have passed on, to paraphrase Alan O'Day ..You know they got a hell of a band !

Nice sounding recording ripped from a bootleg DVD. I remember this being broadcast on the Blue Jean Network. Another of those short lived concert TV programs. Just like ABC In Concert and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert it was broadcast with an FM simulcast. The difference in the program was the bands were recorded at their own concerts for later rebroadcast not at the programs chosen theater. I also remember a Special Forces Era Alice Cooper broadcast, April Wine, and Journey shows as well. This show is from the Girls To Chat, Boys To Bounce Tour, the big single was Live Now, Pay Later. Rod Price had left the group not to return until the reunion in 1993. Lonesome Dave would leave the band in 1983 leaving Roger Earl to soldier on with a revolving cast of players. Lonesome Dave reappeared on the scene in 1990 forming Lonesome Dave's Foghat which meant there was 2 touring acts called Foghat. Rick Ruben was the catalyst for the reformation in 1993 of the original line up.

In 1984 Lonesome Dave the voice behind Foghat left the band. The band broke up, but drummer Roger Earl decided to continue. First with bassist Craig McGregor on bass then various others after McGregor decided to give up the ghost. Lonesome Dave decided to get back into music so he too formed a version of Foghat so that there was actually 2 touring bands named Foghat at one time. Both Roger's and Dave's. I seen them at this time playing in a bar that should hold 200 people. There was about 20 for the Roger Earl version and since Lonesome Dave came through after, his turn out was less about 10 people. The original line-up finally put aside the past at the urging of Rick Rubin and reformed, recorded an album, and went on tour. They continued on for 6 years before Rod Price bowed out. Both he and Peverett have left us for a much larger jam room...

This is night 10 of the legendary record making 24 night run at The Royal Albert Hall. Eric released the 24 Nights CD which was a compilation recording of songs from 7 of those 24 concerts. No songs from this night were used however in the DVD or CD. This is a really good recording the original taper did a great job. The original up-loader also included the interview with Eric on February 2 although it's only in 192kps. This is a fine addition to any Eric Clapton collection so don't miss it.
