This is a Request from our friend Andy, so hear you are my friend! This great show from Whitesnake comes from when the band was still quite young. The set actually still has 2 MKIII Deep Purple tracks in it. "Might Just Take Your Life" wont last too many tours but "Mistreated" still pops up in Whitesnake setlists. Anyway after 2 solo albums David Coverdale
formed Whitesnake. At first the band was billed David Coverdale's Whitesnake but Dave stressed it was a band not a backing band. The band would release 5 Heavy Blues inflected Hard Rock albums. In 1984 there came a change in the music. The Blues inflected Hard Rock evolved into a Commercial Heavy Metal sound. This happened with the Slide It In album. Actually it came with the American version of the album. The album was not only remixed to have a heavier sound but parts were actually re-recorded. Guitar and bass parts were re-recorded by John Sykes and Neil Murray respectively. Both are great players and have recorded some awesome music but the change hurt a lot of original core fans. The bands transformation to a full on Los Angeles Hair Metal sound was completed by the 1987 self titled album. The fans Whitesnake lost were replaced by new ones, Coverdale's gamble paid off. The 25th Anniversary Version of Slide It In contains 8 of the original UK mixes (got it), the 35th Anniversary version includes them all (have to have it).

Another show from Whitesnake for Rosebud's Tribute To Her Favorite Singers. This one is from the 1980's Hair Metal era that most of their America fans know of. I like this era of the band but for me I like it more when David Coverdale sings in his proper range (He forced his voice to hit notes it shouldn't be reaching for. He ended up paying for that later as his voice started to give out on tours). Rosebud & I have caught only one Whitesnake show together and this was late in the 1990's and Dave's voice sounded real good. He didn't hit the real high notes on some songs but sounded real good on all the material. This boot is a great addition to your Whitesnake collction

Rosebud's Salute To Her Favorite Singers keeps moving on with a show from David Coverdale and Whitesnake. Rosebud was already a fan of Whitesnake's 1980's output when I met her. From me she learned of Whitesnakes more Bluesy Hard Rock of their early records. She also learned about the Deep Purple MKIII era from me. She fell in love with the sound of Glenn Hughes & David Coverdale's vocal trade off. Burn is now on her list of favorite albums. This recording from Dave and The 'Snakes comes after the release of the Snakebite EP (not released in the USA). The EP was actually Whitesnake's official debut release. Coverdale's first 2 LP's were solo albums with The White Snake Band as his backing band. This is a great look at David Coverdale's career after leaving Deep Purple. The band's sound is a little far from the Platinum Selling 1980's Hair Metal Monster that it would become.

Nice soundboard recording from the tour for the Whitesnake album. Rosebud really loved this boot because it has all the 1980's hits. She did say that David Coverdale's voice was a little ruff in spots but sounded good. Every time we listen to a 1980's Whitesnake recording we always end up having a conversation about how the band doesn't resemble the 1970's version. For those of us who have been fans since the first record David throws us a bone by playing "(Ain't No Love) In The Heart Of The City". The song however gets a little bit of a Metal re-working. It is a great show though so enjoy!

I downloaded this particular show from a site called Purple Hippies. They have all kinds of Deep Purple shows. They also have related band shows as well, including Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Dio, etc. There are a lot of audience recordings and also soundboards. I recommend checking them out!

Mel Galley had broken his arm so John Sykes was the lone guitar player for the end of Whitesnake's American Tour. John Lord left to return to Deep Purple so Richard Bailey was brought in to play keyboards, although he was set up off stage. The line-up of Whitesnake would forever be in a state of constant change after this tour.
