My first exposure to the music of Rory Gallagher came from a copy of Calling Card that my cousin had found outside in a mud puddle. It was an 8-track tape (yep I'm that old) , so to make it playable I had to un-spool the thing, dry it out then re-spool it. I finished that process and stuck it in the tape deck and was a fan of Rory ever since. So it is nice to have a broadcast recording from that era for my collection. It's a short on, less than an hour, but Rory and band are fired up and give a great performance. A reporter who was in the audience wasn't impressed at Rory's performance and wrote a rather unfavorable review which has been included so you can see read it yourself (it's actually only the first page of the article).

If your like me you always need at least 2 nice sounding gigs (or as many as you can get) from a certain era of a performer. If that's so grab this one, you will not be disappointed.

The Théâtre Antique was built in the First Century of the Christian era of the Roman Empire. It was the second largest the largest in Gaul with a capacity of 13,000 spectators. The modern capacity is held to 8000. The amphitheater has an annual concert series from Jazz to Pop, as well as hosting plays.
