I had out of town company this week, my old friend Gypsy Dan came to Michigan from California. He moved to California a few years back for employment. He worked with me promoting local concerts and local festivals in the 1980s & 1990s. We were talking about old times including concerts we went to. We both agreed that one artist who always delivered live was Peter Frampton. It's no wonder that a "Live" album was what really broke his solo career in America. The disappointment voiced in the follow up wasn't really justified either. I'm In You might not have been as strong but how do you follow up The Ultimate Live Rock Document. You really can't just ask Kiss. Instead of doing the sane thing and trying to they went left and released an orchestrated kind of non Rock sounding Destroyer. Something like Rock And Roll Over would have been the best decision. Frampton also didn't try, he just released an album like all of the others. Some Rocking originals, some ballads and covers. Frampton's albums always had a lot of texture to them for lack of a better way of stating it. He had a lot of musical colors to paint with.

One song from the Frampton's Camel album, 3 from Winds Of Change, and 1, "Shine On", from Frampton's Humble Pie days. Cool to hear some pre-talk-box "Do You Feel Like We Do", interesting interlude. What is it about those two albums, Winds Of Change & Frampton's Camel? Something about them I just love, including what I think is one of the best cover's of "Jumping Jack Flash". If you listen close it uses the same type of mid section that Humble Pie used on "I Don't Need No Doctor". Frampton's Camel, that album has that perfect ebb and flow, mellow and heavy. Anyway I hope you enjoy the Frampton!!

This isn't just a Flac Upgrade The MP3 was VBR So t's An Upgrade There Too!
The first thing I want to say about this great sounding set, is that not one performance took place at the California Jam no matter what the title might suggest. That being said, EVERY PERFORMANCE is Soundboard/FM quality, leading me to believe it's a compilation of radio shows. The Who tracks come from one of their King Biscuit Flower Hour appearances. I was told but can't confirm that the Mott The Hoople tracks are from a King Biscuit Flower Hour show. I highly recommend this 3CD set, I mean look at the artist and track list, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Robin Trower, Leslie West, Peter Townsend, et al one thing the title was correct about is the Guitar Factor!

Humble Pie was formed in late 1968 when Steve Marriott, guitarist and incomparable blues rock vocalist, left the Small Faces, and joined forces with guitarist/singer Peter Frampton, formerly of The Herd, ex-Spooky Tooth bassist Greg Ridley, and 17 year-old drummer Jerry Shirley. Few people today remember Steve Marriott, and that’s a pity. His voice was what Jimmy Page wanted Robert Plant to sound like, and Plant openly emulated Marriott. Humble Pie’s fade out from rock consciousness was due to multitude of factors. Their studio albums were relatively poor sellers, and relying so heavily on cover songs probably worked against them. The group disbanded in 1975, reunited briefly in 1979, then saw Marriott quit and move back to England in 1983. In 1991, he and Peter Frampton were collaborating on a possible Humble Pie reunion in California, when Steve rather abruptly flew home to England. Marriott was tragically killed in a fire at his home on April 19, 1991.

Classic Peter Frampton concert in Pre-FM quality (sorry but I only have a lossy version). Peter was touring to support the Somethings Happening album, his third since leaving Humble Pie. The album's sales were disappointing in spite of Peter touring extensively.

Short but sweet recording of Peter during the I'm In You Tour. It has a killer version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" where Peter takes the drums during the keyboard solo, then back to guitar for his solo. You will not be disappointed by the performances here just the length of the show, 38 minutes is all that was filmed I guess.
