Billy Paul passed away April 24, 2016 from pancreatic cancer, he was 81.

Billy Paul bootlegs are very rare, almost nonexistent. I remember being in the backseat of my Mom & Dad's car when I first heard Billy Paul sing "Me And Mrs. Jones". I thought it was such a passionate vocal. I had to hear more so I bought the album. I was not disappointed. Though not as well known as Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, or Barry White, Billy Paul could make a Soul Ballad burn with the best of them.

With all the Heavy Metal and Post Punk stuff posted today, if figured I would post something a little more Country. A fantastic performance by a great Country Artist. Chris Stapleton is the real deal, not some manufactured artist that the record company throws out there in a "baseball" hat. Highly recommended to all my Country Music friends!

Another chance to see Henry Rollins in my own backyard (I grew up in Detroit) that I missed. I missed seeing Black Flag in 1986 because my band Psychosis was headlining at Blondies (also in Detroit) that same night. On this night Henry Rollins was fronting his eponymously named solo band. This night my band Psychosis was headlining a show at a club called The Sleazy D in Lansing, Michigan. I think Ted Nugent was at Pine Knob and either White Zombie or Sepultura at Harpo's. A big night for live music. I remember we sold out the last of the initial pressing of our 1st album that night. Driving home that night we heard our song "Demon Lord" on the Lansing college radio station. They eventually played the whole album but received the most requests for our tune "Fluffy Bunny Boo" (don't laugh it was one of our heaviest hence the goofy name). Any way it was great to get a recording of this gig a few years later.

justdave notes:
I ripped the audio with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks, add a fade in and fade out, and crossfade the two sets together. No EQ, noise reduction or remixing was done. The show was edited to run set 1 & 2 continuously, if burning to CD-r use the set marks as you CD1, CD2 separation.

Ann Wilson sings some songs from bands that have influenced her, some solo tracks,  and some Heart tracks. The Heart tracks have newer arraignments. Some of the covers may be a little surprising, such as Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up", Jimi Hendix's "Manic Depression", or Yes's "I Seen All Good People". The cover of Yes' "I Seen All Good People" is only the "You're Move" section of the song and segues into The Black Crows "She Talks To Angels".

Heart is, according to the Wilson sisters, on hiatus. This is due to a strain in the sisters relationship after events that took place at a Heart concert at the White River Amphitheater, Auburn, Washington. Ann's husband allegedly assaulted Nancy's 16 year old twin boys (he has plead guilty). Since this incident the sisters have only communicated through other people, not directly. Both have formed solo bands with members of Heart, and are on tour separately.

A nice sounding recording from Anathema's Silent Enigma Tour. This is during Anathema's Gothic Doom phase. The Death Metal vocals are now gone as well as founding lead vocalist Darren White. Vincent Cavanagh will be the bands lead vocalist for their career. Vincent's vocals on this recording remind me of the "clean" vocals used by Tomas Gabriel Fischer's on Celtic Frost's Into The Pandemonium album. Anathema would take a turn towards Progressive Rock in their future releases.

She also is featured in a performance from Joe Lovano & Dave Douglas' Sound Prints Quartet. This show has her leading her Quintet through 4 songs before a String Quartet joins in for the rest of the show. The sound of the strings compliment Linda's great arraignments. Jazz fans should watch for more great things from this talented bass player! For shows from Joe Lovano click here. For shows from Dave Douglas click here.
