For those of you who enjoyed last weeks offering from The Nils Petter Molvær Quintet will be glad to get more from Nils this time in a trio format. This is some great genre expanding music blending together elements of Trance, Techno, & Dub with the use of a lot of electronics including loops, effects and highly processed sounds. Not For Jazz Purists but for fans of experimental music of any type I do highly recommend this show.

This is a Remastered and Lossless version of a show we had previously posted in MP4 vbr, so this is a major upgrade for all that downloaded that particular Sly & Robbie Meets Nils Petter Molvær show. If you been around this blog a while you know that I love Nils Petter Molvær's music. Combining Jazz and Electronic Music to spearhead the Future Jazz movement. Other Jazz musicians that helped to pioneer and refine Future Jazz were Dave Douglas & Arild Anderson. All of course personal favorites of mine, each with there own take on the genre. Sly And Robby are a Jazz/Hip-Hop Electronic musicians who when joined with the Nils Petter Molvær Trio make pure magic on stage. The band uses their recorded songs as a blue print to venture of into fresh improvised destinations.

Now if you have been visiting The New JDP for a while you may know that one of my favorite Jazz Musicians is Nils Petter Molvær. Nils is a pioneer in the genre called Future Jazz. This is a fusion of Jazz and Electronica. Elements of Dub Step, Dub, Third Stream, Techno, Trip-Hop, Hip-Hop Beats, Tape/Sound Loops and Free Form are all present in Nils Petter Molvær's music. Atmospheric is a great descriptor for Nils' musical creations. I always recommend listening to this in the arms of your favorite Green Friend...Get High!! Set back with a glass of wine and a good doobie and drift in the stream of sound.

Anybody who has followed this blog for a while knows I have a deep love and respect for musicians who push the boundaries of music to the edges. Nils Petter Molvær's use of electronics (ie samples, loops, effects, dubs, sub woofer pumping bass tones, and even turntables on this recording) makes for one genre expanding experience. Nils Petter Molvær's music will be appreciated not only by Experimental Jazz fans but fans of Post Rock, Dub, Progressive Rock, and Krautrock as well.
