The Smithereens' retro flavored Power Pop was in contrast to the Synth Pop and Hair Metal that was ruling the carts in the 1980's. This however was a key to their success, as songs like "Blood And Roses" and "Behind The wall Of Sleep" were considered a breath of fresh air to those tired of spandex and hairspray. This live recording comes from the tour for Green Thoughts, the bands second full length LP. The sound is really nice and the set includes the bands hits as well as a cover of The Who's "The Seeker" and the at the time unreleased "White Castle Blues".

Two great performances make up this 4 CD box set from The House of Blue Light World Tour. There wouldn't be another tour till Joe Lynn Turner fronted the band for The Slaves And Masters World Tour in 1991. Ian Gillan would return in 1993 for The 25th Anniversary World Tour only to have Ritchie Blackmore leave during a Helsinki, Finland gig. Joe Satriani would fill in for the rest of the tour.

This is a large flac file set so the CDs have been uploaded separately and may be opened separately. The MP3 has been divided into to parts each part opens separately.

This is a really nice sounding recording, and a hell of a show. This performance comes some 2 weeks after the release of the I'm The Man album. Joe and the band are in great spirits and firing on all cylinders as they rip through this high energy set.

At this early stage in his career Joe Jackson was lumped in with the other angry young British singer songwriters, Elvis Costello and Graham Parker, as angst ridden Punk Rockers. Like Costello and Parker, Jackson proved to be so much more. All 3 artists are cult figures in their own right. Jackson has not only released 2 of the 80's best Power Pop albums in Look Sharp and I'm The Man, but also delved in Reggae on the Beat Crazy LP and Swing & Jump Blues on the Jumpin' Jive LP. Even though Joe has had sizable hits with "Is She Realy Going Out With Him" and "Steppin' Out" real commercial success has eluded him, and that is fine with him. In the book "Cult Rockers: 150 of the most Controversial, Distinctive, Offbeat, Intriguing, Outrageous, and Championed Rock Musicians of All Time" Joe is quoted in a 1995 interview as saying .."I don't feel part of any particular genre or movement or scene, and I just want to be myself and be as unique as I can be. I feel more confident about that now than I  ever have".

The reunited Swans deliver a crushing set at the 2013 Primavera Sound Festival. If your a fan of Swans you know what to expect from this Post Punk/Rock/Metal Noise crew. If your never heard Swans picture Pink Floyd's "Saucerfull Of Secerets" (the track itself not the LP as a whole) meets Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" played with the aggression of any modern Heavy Metal band, then you kind of have an idea.

This is an amazing sounding recording from Queensrÿche's Promised Land Tour. The Promised Land was the culmination of Queensrÿche's progressive leanings. It was the most ambitious recording to date utilizing digital recording techniques and some songs using up to 100 tracks during recording. The album dealt with the bands success during the Empire period of their career. It was a dark album and although it debuted at #1 and went platinum it was actually not as commercially successful as Empire. The growth of the Grunge and Alternative Music scenes meant hard times for Queensrÿche and Heavy Metal bands in general.

This is a large file set so I have divided the flac into 2 parts both parts needed to unzip.

Raven were leaders in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Formed in New Castle, England in 1974 the band would wear athletic equipment such as hockey helmets, elbow and shoulder pads etc on stage, then smash into each other and their equipment. This would prompt Atlantic Records to later bill them as Athletic Rock. Raven's first tour of the states in 1983, had the fledgling Thrash Metal bands Anthrax and Megadeth as opening acts. Atlantic Records signed the band and released Stay Hard in 1985. The band took a lot of flack for the albums more commercial sound, Atlantic forced the band to change even more during their time on the label, much to the dismay of fans. Album sales never lived up to label expectations and Raven was dropped. The band still enjoys an independent label career and makes metal once again on their own terms.

Harpo's Concert Theater is the bar for Heavy Metal, Hard Rock in Detroit. It started life as the Harper Theater in 1939, part of The Wisper & Westman circuit. It became Harpo's Concert Theater in 1973 and started hosting live rock music. At one point in the 1970's the club was billed as Disco Inferno, a dark time in rock history. The lighted Disco floor is still in use while Heavy Metal bands play there.
