Rest In Peace Bear-Bear And Uncle Kenny You Will Be Missed Forever

As many of you know I have ferrets as my pets. I had a very special ferret named Bear-Bear who was my best friend as well as my support/service animal. He was trained to lay on my feet if he sensed I was about to have a diabetic sugar attack. He also kept my spirits up while I was home and Rosebud was at work. It can get a little depressing to be disabled, not able to work and support your family after that's all you've known for 30 years.

My buddy Bear-Bear passed away on March 19, after a month long illness that saw me needing to feed him with syringes towards the end. It started with a flu virus that Rosebud had caught at work. None of her co-workers vaccinate nor do they call in when they are sick. Unfortunately when people do this there can be innocent victims of your germs. Both my Bear-Bear and Rosebud's Chewy caught the flu. Chewy shook it of pretty easy but Bear-Bear required a vet visit. He was given steroids to combat the virus. Unknown to us was a tumor in his stomach. It was small (undetectable actually) but the steroids fed the cancer as they will do. The tumor burst causing a small stroke (he had 4 while we tried to find an emergency vet that would see him). He died in my arms. We have no idea how long we would have had him if he had not gotten the flu (don't get me wrong I am not trying to blame anyone just sating the facts). This led to a deep depression that worried Rosebud enough that she made me get another ferret to work with. She hoped I wouldn't have time to be depressed trying to train a 3 month old ferret kit named Trouble. He received his name after eating a hole in his new bed, then eating some ears of of stuffed animals.

Just as I was crawling out of my depression and Trouble was quickly learning his job, my Uncle Ken (my favorite Uncle who's married to my favorite Aunt Wez that taught me about music, they both were with me for one of my 1st concerts, Bob Seger at Cobo Hall) passed away after an all to short fight with multiple cancers, he was only 65. There was 4 of us in my family that received a cancer diagnosis in the same month. Myself, Uncle Kenny, My Aunt Rose and my Aunt Lily. I am the only one left. My cancer is holding steady, my numbers are still low and there has been no growth in my tumor and there is still only one. Thank You All for listening to me talk about my latest absence from the blog.

Nice sounding recording. If you like the pairing of Chick Corea & Gary Burton you will enjoy this show too. Makoto Ozone's playing is different from Chick Corea's but Gary's vibes mesh with his playing just fine.

Fight was a favorite of mine, to me it sounded like Judas Priest on steroids. The band was even heavier sounding live. I caught them at Harpo's Concert Theatre in Detroit, Michigan (a pit of a concert theater actually). There are some that say Rob Halford's solo material was far away from the Metal sounds of Judas Priest. The only album not in the same formula as Priest was 2wo. 2wo was an Industrial-Metal Project with John5 on guitar and Trent Resner of Nine Inch Nails producing. I actually looked forward to that project, because an Industial-Metal band with Rob Halford screaming over it sounded like an interesting proposition. The fact is that Rob actually under sang the songs, while Resner's production removed the balls from the music. The result was an unvaried sounding record that sounded as if the singer could really give a shit about the songs. I don't listen to it very often but it still gets some play.

JustDave Notes:
Due to the covid-19 pandemic the Wacken Open Air Festival was canceled. However Wacken did go through with a "virtual festival" with artists broadcast on TV live for viewers at home.

I converted the MKV file to MPEG-2 with Pazera Free MKV to AVI Converter to make a DVD. I then used Goldwave to  convert the MPEG-2 into a 16bit/48Hz wave, to edit tracks and to make fade in/fade outs where needed. The original MKV had lossy audio so I used Trader's Little Helper to encode the waves to MP3 320kbps.

Great show from Ice-T and Body Count from the Virtual Festival of 2020. Love the fact that they open with Slayer's "Post-Mortum / Reigning Blood". It really sets the tone for a very heavy performance.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit a couple track marks and raise the volume a little. No noise reduction or EQ was used and no re-mixing was done. The DVD had lossy audio so using Trader's Little Helper the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps while aligning al sector boundaries.

A nice recording from The Police on their Ghost in the Machine Tour which ran from October 1, 1981 to September 6, 1982. The Police played 4 dates in South America between the 1st and 2nd legs of The North America Tour. These dates were February 16 & 17 1982 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho & February 19 & 20, 1982 in Viña Del Mar, Chile.

Now I'm not 100% positive that Yngwie J. Malmsteen played guitar at this show or not but the original up-loader named the line-up as if he was so that's what we are sticking with here. If so Malmsteen would be replaced soon by Steve Vai after an on stage fight with Graham Bonnet over Bonnet supposedly messing with Malmsteen's amp during his guitar solo. The problem actually being 2 stars who don't want to give up a bit of their spotlight. Too bad because it was a good pairing of talents all though I am more of a fan of Steve Vai than Malmsteen (this being based on the fact that as a Detroit musician I have had the chance of meeting both guitarists). My experience was Malmsteen was a bit of a jerk while Steve Vai was a real nice guy. Others may have had different experiences with both so...
