Recording Notes:
- There are 2 locked groove show promo beds at the end of Side A. They were encoded and moved to the end of the show.
- There was not a test tone for DJs to adjust levels before playing the show on air.
- Oddly this is the first King Biscuit Flower Hour that I have edited in the past 2 years, this is the first I can remember that has no advertisement for The United States Armed Services.
Known Faults:
- Records had a lot of surface noise in the quite areas due to age and being played a lot more than once.
- There are some visable marks on the vinyl records that do make noise.
- No cue sheets included with this vinyl set when purchased by Sam Elliot's Mustache.
Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served the situation.
- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.
- The first few senconds of track "King Biscuit Flower Hour #KB-323 Promo Bed w/Voiceover" had a small jump skip that I fixed by taking the first few seconds of "King Biscuit Flower Hour #KB-323 Promo Bed Music Only

- The Elvis Costello Fan Page elviscostellofans.com confirmed a date of May 14, 1980 for the show that I found at setlist.fm.
- This concert has had parts of it broadcast many times on The BBC and at least once by The King Biscuit Flower Hour.
- This show has Graham Parker & the Rumour guitarist Martin Belmont setting in with The Attractions due to Steve Nieve having been in an auto accident leaving him unable to play the tour. The tour was not very successful due to Steve Nieve's absence
- Elvis Costello makes a few jokes about the basement venue including when drummer Pete Thomas jumps the gun on the intro to "Don't Look Back (The Temptations)" Costello remarks "Pete's in a hurry to get out of the fallout shelter".
