This is a great recording of Pantera's early work with Phil Anselmo. Phil can actually still hit the Rob Halford like high screams. The seeds for the emergence of the Cowboy's From Hell are all here, they just need to be fine tuned a little before world domination.

I went to the CD store for the first time in a couple years (since moving into my new house, it took some time getting organized). I spent some money on some new silver CD bootlegs. Each was about $17 US. I took them home to rip them for posting and it turns out that the record company used MP3 based sources for their releases, hence they are lossy and I encoded them to MP3 320kbps.

This is the first of three new CD's to be posted this week. This one is a classic from early in the career of Rush. Neil Peart had only been in the band for about 4 months when this show was recorded to promote Rush's first tour of the USA.

This came to me labeled as a soundboard from Los Angeles xx-xx-1983. After comparing this with other Frank Marino boots I have come to the conclusion that it is actually a Westwood One broadcast from Sanrta Monica Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California January 27, 1983. This version has a couple more tracks than the other I have. "Purple Haze", "Johnny B. Goode", and a small piece of "Talkin''Bout A Feelin'".

Our next Sunday Morning Jazz offering is also the first posting on this blog from Medeski, Martin, & Wood. If you never heard Medeski, Martin & Wood or if you a Rocker who has been on the fence about trying some of our Jazz offerings think on the lines of Focus but with more of a Jazz feel than the Classical feel that most Focus tracks have. The band is very improvisational live and add a little Funk into the mix as well.

I ripped the DVD audio using DVD Audio Extractor 4.5.5, I then raised the volume and separated the tracks using Goldwave 5.04. No remixing of the audio was done.

The first 3 tracks "Last Train Home", "Song For The Boys" and "Medley" are Pat Metheny playing solo acoustic, the band comes in on track 4. This is a fabulous performance and a great sounding audio. A perfect first offering for today's Sunday Morning Jazz.
