This recording comes from the final tour of Deep Purple Mach II. The band had gone through a couple reunions already when their label talked them into a 25th anniversary tour. Ritchie Blackmore actually had to be given a large monetary advance to agree to it. During the tour, on November 17 1993, Ritchie walked out in the middle of a show. Joe Satriani was used to finish off the tour, and it looked like he would join the band. That didn't work out but former Dixie Dregs guitarist Steve Morse did and continues to this day. Jon Lord retired from Deep Purple in 2002 to pursue a solo career. Don Airy who had worked with Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne and Rainbow was asked to join the group. Jon Lord was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2011. He had been recieving treatment, but Jon Lord died on July 16, 2012 from a pulmonary embolism, he was 71.

This recording comes from Queens first ever performance in Buenos Aires and a killer show it is. Freddy Mercury was regarded as one of the best front man in rock music. His commanding stage presence, soaring voice, and flamboyant stage attire won audiences the world over. Queen concerts were a feast of sound and sight, with a light show that would blind a full stadium. We lost Freddy Mercury to bronchial pneumonia, a complication of AIDS, on November 23, 1991.

When Chrissy Hynde went into the studio to make a demo tape of her original songs in 1978, her 3 piece band consisted of Hynde, Steve Strange of The Moors Murderers, and Philthy "Animal" Taylor of Motörhead. After hearing the demos Dave Hill of Anchor Records convinced Hynde to form a permanent band. The Pretenders took form shortly after.

This Pre-FM recording catches the band on tour for their first album. The self titled debut album was a critical and commercial success in the US and the UK, hitting #9 on the Billboard chart and #1 on the UK Album chart. The single "Brass In Pocket" hit the Billboard Top 20 peaking at #14. This was a great time for the band, and the performance here gives no hint that this line up would fall apart due to drug abuse.

Pete Farndon was fired from the band on June 14, 1982 due to his drug addiction causing increasing tension in the band. Hynde has said that he became someone you just couldn't work with. Fardon was found dead in his bathtub, April 14, 1983, after taking heroin he passed out and drowned. James Honeyman-Scott was found dead 2 days later due to heart failure from a cocaine overdose. Chrissie Hynde says that Honeyman-Scott's death is what made her keep the band together, that she just couldn't let the music die.

I don't have a lot of music by these guys but do really love their unique style and sound. A friend of mine who is a big fan turned me on to them many years ago. I have attended a couple Blues Traveler shows with him and really enjoyed the performance. This really good sounding recording is a nice representation of what Blues Traveler is all about live. Original bassist Bobby Sheehan died August 20, 1999 from an accidental overdose of heroin, cocaine and Valium.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was finally clean & sober. The drugs and alcohol were behind him along with his divorce from his wife. The divorce kept him from writing and recording new music for almost 2 years. When Stevie finally got back to it he was nervous his new sobriety would hinder his musical abilities. He needn't worry because he soon finished In Step, an album some have called his most inspired. The tours were very successful, one with Jeff Beck, another with Joe Cocker. Things were on a high for Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble when they joined Eric Clapton for a star studded run of shows at Alpine Valley. Stevie was taken from us when his helicopter crashed into the ski hill after take off all on board were killed. This recording comes from the show the day prior to Stevie's death.
