Ozzy Osbourne - vocals
Joe Holmes - guitar

Mike Bordin - drums
John Sinclair - keyboards

It's a nice sounding boot from the Prince Of Darkness. I like this line-up as well, I've seen them at a few Ozzfests, they are a great live unit. They used to play a medley of Ozzy era Black Sabbath songs in the middle of "Suicide Solution". It was kind of Ozzy's idea, he told the band that he didn't want a featured guitar solo. Hence the medley was invented. It had a funky beat ala Faith No More or Infectious Groves, Joe Holmes is Ozzy's under rated guitar player for the way he played Ozzy Sabbath material across those funky rhythms. Everyone was into it so hey Ozzy was right on that. The guitar solo did come back after Zakk Wylde returned to the fold.

One could argue that the set list is a little stale for this tour. The only non Ozzy live staple is "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". It is not a usual choice for Ozzy since the high pitch vocal is hard on/for Ozzy's voice. Ozzy was on the road a lot between Ozzmosis and Down To Earth. Six years between studio albums is a long time. I do remember Ozzy and the band playing around with the sets because of the lack of new material. I remember one Ozzfest the keyboard player (not sure which one) was visible on stage, stage right front, in the top of a skull. The set list that night (I'm sure every night of that tour) was keyboard heavy. I swear as I was lighting a big doobie the show opened to "Diary Of A Madman". It was quite some time ago so it's blurry but I am pretty sure they actually played it. None of Mine and Rosebud's friends were there that night so I can't verify the memory.....

One again the flac CDs are uploaded separarely and will open separately.

justdave's notes:
I used Goldwave to convert the MPEG4 to a Wave 16bit/44,1khz. I then used Goldwave to edit the tracks. No noise reduction, EQ, or remastering was done to the recording. The video had lossy audio so it was encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper. I edited the show as it was broadcast, a continuous 5 hour broadcast. If you want to burn CDs you will have to find the right spots to edit your CD1, CD2 etc.

Taylor Hawkins, drummer for The Foo Fighters, died March 25, 2022. Early toxicology reports suggest that a drug overdose may be the cause, but no official ruling has been made as of this date. The band was scheduled to play the Estéreo Picnic Festival in Bogotá, Colombia but had to cancel. The stage was turned into a candle light vigil.

This recording is from show 1 of 2 shows planned to honor Taylor. The 2nd was on September 27 in Los Angeles, California. It's a great show with a lot of different performers, some legendary, some not quite there but on their way. Check out Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss/Them Crooked Vultures fame singing David Bowie's "Let's Dance" and Sir Elton John's "Good-bye Yellow Brick Road" and nail it! Chevy Metal & Ke$ha deliver a great version of T. Rex's "Children Of The Revolution". Brian Johnson & Lars Ulrich jam out some AC/DC classics. Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson using 2 different drummers to pull off some Rush tracks. Sir Paul McCartney steps up with Chrisse Hynde and deliver some Beatles while Brian May and Roger Taylor give us a bit of Queen.

I hope everyone enjoys this, it took a lot of work to get it together. Not sure if there are any other audio rips of this show out yet. T.U.B.E. offers the MPEG4 that I made the audio rip from, it's actually where I downloaded it. It's kind of a big file set, so It has been separated into 2 parts which can be opened separately.

** In early 2011, Jeff Hanneman contracted necrotizing fasciitis. According to the band, doctors say that it likely originated from a spider bite. Gary Holt of Exodus substituted. Jeff never returned to the line-up. He passed away on May 2, 2013 at the age of 49, from liver failure. The cause was determined to be from alcohol-related cirrhosis. Gary Holt has since been named a permanent member of Slayer.

justdave notes:
I edited the whole thing to run as one continuous show. Both DVD's ran for over 2 hours. This is a large file set so it has been divided into 2 parts, both parts needed to unzip.

Metallica on the ill fated tour to promote Master Of Puppets, their third studio release. I got to see Metallica on this tour supporting Ozzy Osbourne at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. There is a bootleg DVD of this gig floating around, part of which is included on Cliff'em All, Metallica's first home video release. The sound check and set up was taking long and the doors were opened a little late. The crowd outside started chanting "Let's Go Damn It!" and pushed the barricades into the street blocking traffic. The doors were opened and as I entered the main floor area I noticed the chairs were not even set up. The crew was still setting up the barricade in front of the stage, as well. The crowd started chanting for Metallica and soon the group was on. A mosh pit stated which surprised the Joe Louis Arena security who had Metallica stop the show. The front barricade was moved back another 3 feet and the concert started again. When Ozzy came on after Metallica the barricade was moved back another 3 feet by security. You have to remember Metallica was one of the first Thrash/Speed Metal bands to play such an arena, most of their piers were still playing clubs. The security for Joe Louis Arena had no idea what to expect, such shows are common place now. Metallica along with Anthrax and Slayer lead the underground, extreme at the time Metal bands out of the underground to the commercial masses. We lost Cliff Burton on September 27, 1986 in Dörarp, Sweden when the bands tour bus lost control and flipped multiple times. While James, Kirk, and Lars sustained only minor injuries, Cliff Burton was killed when the bus landed on top of him, he was 24.

Tracks 9-12 are from the Power Metal demo recorded in April 1982.
Tracks 13 & 14 are studio rehearsal tracks recorded in July 1983 while prepping for a tour.
Track 15 is Lars & James trying to work out the riff for Am I Evil.

Good sounding recording of Metallica in their early stage with Mustane still in the band. James sings quite differently on this one. The growl isn't there yet, more like a falsetto wine. A nice look at where the band came from.
