- There is a locked groove tone at the beginning of Side A for the DJs to set levels before broadcasting the show. it was not encoded.
- There are 2 locked groove promo beds at the end of Side B. They were encoded and moved to the end of the recording.
- Program is on 2 vinyl LPs with only 3 side containing music the 4th side is blank.
Known Faults:
- Cue sheet says Ellen Foley's "What's A Mater Baby (Is It Hurting You)" is at the end of the show. It is actually between "Rock 'N Roll Hoochie Koo" and "Love In Action"
- Some small markings on each side not many at all made any noise.
- Ellen Foley's "What's A Mater Baby (Is It Hurting You)" is misnamed on the cue sheet as "Is She Hurting You"
Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served the situation.
- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.
Other Notes:
- The concert billed as A Special Evening with Rick Derringer and Friends was a benefit show
- The benefit was for Rick Derringer himself, after having his truck full of equipment stolen at a prior show.
- During Elen Foley's "What's A Mater Baby (Is It Hurting You)" she ad-libs a line about the theft saying "Let Me tell You it could be a lot worse...You could have had all Your equipment stolen."
- All guest artists also played their own set although they were shorter than a normal set
- I have included a write up about the show with links to the reference pages I got my info from.
- The Rick Derringer set was released as a King Biscuit Flower Hour CD release called Rick Derringer And Friends, however the only friend included on that CD is Edgar Winter.
- Ellen Foley would be known to most Rockers of the era for her guest spot on Meatloaf's "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". Ellen Foley was replaced on the tours by Karla Devito.
- Question, is it me or does the very beginning of "On My Way Up" sound a bit like "The Peter Gun Theme"?
