Our second Sunday Morning Jazz offering comes from the Legendary Charles Mingus. Charles Mingus worked with Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Paul Bley, & Lionel Hampton just to name a few of his more famous sessions. Charles Mingus is considered by many as one of the greatest American Jazz Composers. He also received many honors including having a United States Commemritive Postage Stamp released in 1995, and is in The Down Beat Jazz Hall Of Fame, The Grammy Hall Of Fame, and The Jazz At Lincoln Center Nesuhi Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame. Jeff Beck recorded a version of Charles Mingus' "Good-Bye Pork Pie Hat" for his Wired album. Andy Summers of Police fame payed tribute to Charles Mingus & Thelanious Monk at the 32nd Deutsches Jazz Festival by playing a set comprised of songs by both artists (available here). This fine sounding soundboard recording should be included in all Jazz fans archive.
