Roots Of Heavyu Metal post #9

The MC5 were the 60's social revolution incarnate. Their ideal of Rock and Roll, Drugs, and F@%*ing in the streets was their lifestyle. The only band to actually perform at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The MC5 played for over eight hours straight; of the other scheduled performers, Kramer stated in Get Up, Stand Up that only Neil Young actually arrived, though due to the chaos at the convention, Young didn't perform. Dennis Thompson asserted years later that "Country Joe" McDonald (Country Joe and the Fish) was also present at the scene. The MC5 broke up in 1973. This recording went unbroadcast until 2009.

Not to long after these recordings Dennis Thompson and Rob Tyner would leave the 5.

Roots Of Heavy Metal post # 8

Iron Maiden on the North American leg of the Killer World Tour. Lead singer Paul Di'Anno would be replaced at the end of this tour. Bruce Dickinson would step in as replacement and play his first Iron Maiden show October 26, 1981, just four months later. For many (JD included) the Paul Di'Anno era holds a special spot in their hearts, due to the pure raw energy that was felt the first time we heard "Wrathchild" or the vocal power of Di'Anno on "Twilight Zone". Those first two Maiden albums along with the first few Motorhead and Venom LPs were what inspire a generation to amp up the speed and create Speed/Thrash Metal.

Roots Of Heavy Metal post # 7

This bootleg comes from two great Savatage gigs from before they morphed into a Progressive Metal band and then into Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My (JD) favorite era of Savatage is when Jon Oliva was lead vocalist, Rosebud's is when Zachary Stevens was lead vocalist. But hey, we both love the band.
