Recording Notes:
- On the cue sheet it states that there is an "Ovu" test tone at the beginning of Side A but the tone is not there. Did the mastering room for get to put the test tone on the record.

Known Faults:
- The sound on this King Biscuit record set is not quite the same as I have gotten used to over the past couple years editing King Biscuit vinyl for Sam Elliot's Mustache.
- The volume was a little uneven on this one, each section seemed to have it's own volume and the song "Fox Trot Lilly" the drums were mostly shifted to the right side and overpowered the left side.
- It was not mastered at The Master Cutting Room by JOE. It was mastered at a place I can not decifer. It looks like a @ sign with a + sign on the end and an SP or 5P all in script.


Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served the situation.
- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.
- Volume differences adjusted after all other editing was finished.

Other Notes:
- At first I wondered what was so different about The Outlaws sound on this recording from all other's that I have and it's that there are only 2 guitar players not 3. Also the newer songs seem to lean more into the Hard Rock elements instead of the Southern Music elements. Third the harmony vocals just are not there either.
- The Outlaws would be dropped by their label after the tour due to poor sales of the 1982 album Los Hombres Malo. The following tours would have shows at small clubs and slow sales of later releases.
- Hughie Thomasson ended up joining the Johnny Van Zant lead Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1996 staying with the band until 2005. Hughie died in his sleep from a heart attack September 9, 2007 from a heart attack, he was 55.
- Johnny & The Distractions were described to me as kind of a Bruce Springsteenish musically. I would say some Bruce elements are there as well as some Bryan Adams and John Cougar. This is not to say they are not an entertaining band or their music is derivative of the named bands. It's just a way of giving a little idea of what they sound like. Definitely a high energy band.
- 1982 was the year Johnny & The Distractions got their big shot. Unfortunately for the band mistakes were made, the biggest of which was concentrating on the area around where they came from. They did not get a lot of tours outside that area. They did tour with Joan Jett and The J.Geils Band and had a semi-hit with "Let It Rock" but no follow up single to help push the band over the top.

Other Notes:
- The first time I heard The Outlaws was when one of the FM stations I listened to as a teenager played "Green Grass And High Tides". The song kicked my ass with it's extended guitar solos. Next time I was partying with friends I asked if anyone had heard the song before. The kid whose house it was got up and put on The Outlaws debut album and I was hooked. Here was Southern Rock with hard driving guitars yet vocal harmonies that would make The Eagles take notice. They have been one of my favorite Southern Rock bands ever since.
- Ronnie Van Zant's younger brother Johnny Van Zant was chosen to front the reunited Lynyrd Skynyrd in the 1990s. Before that he headed up the Johnny Van Zant Band which offered up a more Arena Rock/R&B flavored Southern Rock.

I ripped the audio from the DVD's using DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to edit the tracks and raise the volume of the wave files. No EQ or noise reduction was used. There was broadcast problems between Disturbed and Rob Zombie's sets. The last track of Disturbed's set is cut off, and the first track of Rob Zombie's set cuts in. I added a little fade to soften the change a little. I edited the files to play as the broadcast was aired. If you want to make CD-rs you will have to determine your own CD breaks. This is the complete broadcast edited from a 6 DVD set.

Although usually not credited on this gig, Ed King would leave the band during the tour late May of 1975, so he actually would be on this recording. I could not find a date for Skynyrd playing the LA Forum in 1975 for the Nuthin' Fancy Tour (it was a quick search I bet one of you know it though).

Original drummer Bob Burns passed away in 2015 leaving no "original" members alive after Gary Rossington passed away in 2023. Rosebud and I have stopped supporting the band touring as Lynyrd Skynyrd. Our last time seeing Skynyrd was the year before Billy Powell passed away. Just my opinion now but I would rather see Rickey Medlocke return to Blackfoot and Johnny Van Zant tour with a revamped Johnny Van Zant Band. I know Rickey Medlocke played drums for Skynyrd in the early days but is not a "classic line up" member.

Sorry but this bands touring without any original members thing came up when a friend told me that the band WAR would be playing Detroit this summer. When I explained that someone other than the original band WAR owns the name and has a line up of musicians that were never in WAR but talk like they were old members when on stage. If you want to see the real band formerly called WAR go see the band LOW RIDERS. That is the name of the band formerly called WAR and they kick ass. I went to a show that was Dr. Hook, The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Dr. Hook was just Ray Sawyer with a backing band. The Guess Who had only the original bassist. Bachman-Turner Overdrive was actually Tim Bachman's BTO with Tim being the only person who had ever been in BTO. It was cool to hear the Tim Bachman BTO songs like "I Don't Have To Hide" but I did feel cheated.

I shed tears when I heard The Last Freebird Has Flown Home, Gary Rossington Has Died At Age 71. He had been suffering from heart problems, so I guess that a heart attack was the cause since none was given. The members Lynyrd Skynyrd have been through the ringer when it comes to band tragedy. The airplane crash of 1977 was just the beginning. From Allen Collins' paralysis from a car crash and death from pneumonia to the many heath problems to plague survivors of the crash.

This great Pr-FM has an awesome sound and features 5 as of that time unreleased songs. Second Helping was not recorded yet and "Woman of Mine" never was released on a studio album. There is actually not a lot of recorded sources for the rare track so Do Not Miss This Tribute to not only Gary Rossington but every member of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band.

When I received this in a trade it was just divided into the 5 segments that were on the broadcast CD. I decoded the files and chaptered all the tracks. The commercials are included but tracked so that you can play just the music files. The DJ intros stepped on the intros of tracks  01, 06, 13, and 20 so they were tracked with the song. There was no cue sheet or CD scans included just an info file with the names of the songs.

A short but sweet recording from Lynyrd Skynyrd's tour to promote Second Helping. The bands second album would be the last to feature drummer Bob Burns. Burns left at the end of the tour because he didn't like life on the road. Artimus Pyle would join as his replacement before the recording of Nuthin' Fancy. Guitarist Ed King wold leave the band during the tour to promote Nuthin' Fancy for the same reasons. His replacement would be Steve Gaines. On October 20, 1977 we lost Ronnie Van Zant age 29, Steve Gaines age 28, and Cassie Gaines age 29, when the bands airplane went down due to loss of fuel. Allen Collens survived the crash but seemed to be plagued with bad luck afterwards. He lost his wife Kathy suddenly in 1980. The resulting depression and downward spiral into drugs and alcohol culminated in an auto accident that took the life of his girlfriend and left Allen paralyzed from the waist down and unable to play guitar. He died January 23, 1990 from chronic pneumonia. Keyboardist Billy Powell was lost to us at the age of 56 to a heart attack on January 28, 2009. Bassist Leon Wilkeson died at the age of 49 from natural causes related to his long term lung and liver disease.

Taken from the Pre-FM vinyl records commercials and all. I got this from a friend who is a big CDB fan. This is the only Volunteer Jam Charlie hasn't released anything from commercially. The memories may have some pain to them, as this was the return to the stage for Lynyrd Skynyrd after the crash. Emotions must have been running wild that night, as evidenced by Charlie choking back tears during Reflections. Allen Collens, Gary Rossington, Billy Powell, Artimus Pyle,and Leon Wilkeson of Skynyrd play "Call Me The Breeze" with Henry Paul on vocals, then an instrumental version of "Free Bird". For "The South's Gonna Do It Again", Pappa John Creach, Vasser Clements, members of The Marshall Tucker Band amongst others join in the jam.
