This is a great sounding recording of a show that has only one thing wrong .. it's just not long enough to show off the tremendous talent on the stage!

justdave's notes:
I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip the waves. I then used Goldwave to adjust the volume and re-edit some track marks. I then encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps because the DVD audio was lossy. No EQ or noise reduction was used. This show was edited to play continuously like the broadcast, if you want to burn a CD you will have to choose your own CD marks.

This show is a fun listen, Lionel Richie & Kenny Rogers have been friends for a long time and are really enjoying themselves. At the start of the show Kenny messes up by taking the first verse of the second song when Lionel is supposed to. They stop rip on each other a couple times then start over for a great rendition of  "She Believes In Me". The interview and rehearsal segments give a glimpse of how much fun the two had getting ready for this show.

I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip the wave files. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks. No EQ or noise reduction was used.

Suffocation play Brutal/Technical Death Metal, their sound incorporates guttural vocals, blats beats, and technical riffs. The band formed in 1988 in Long Island New York. Guitarist Terrance Hobbs was quoted as saying about his meeting original drummer Mike Smith 'Wow, there's another black guy playing this kind of stuff'. There had not been a lot of African Americans playing Heavy Metal in the 1980's let alone Brutal Death Metal. The fact that there was 2 African Americans in the band actually fed some curiosity in the music. I have seen Suffocation a few times in Detroit and they kick ass live!

Original vocalist Frank Mullen is semi retired from live performances with Suffocation due to his new day job. He can only tour about 2 weeks a year. That leaves guitarists Terrance Hobbs and Guy Marachais as the original members at this recording. Guy Marachais will leave the band in 2016.

Guest vocalist Ricky Myers is the drummer with Disgorge (America).

Kevin Talley, drums 2014-2016, has played with Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Dååth, &  Chimaira plus more.
Derek Boyer joined Suffocation in 2004 after having played with Disgorge (America), Decrepit Birth, Deeds Of Flesh, and Dying Fetus.
