The last time I posted a Cannonball Adderley show it was extremely popular. I figured everybody might want at least one more show for their collection. This one I believe this recording should be in your collection as well. There is a comical little story about the song "Little Boy With The Sad Eyes" that gives you a new appreciation for the song. - A few artifacts may be heard here and there that were not possible too remove without marring the sound more than the artifact itself.
- There also may be vinyl noises that were missed in editing.

Recording Notes:
- There is a test tone at the beginning of Record 1 Side A for DJs to set levels and balance before broadcasting the show. It was not encoded.
- There are 2 loked groove show promo beds athe the end of Record 1 Side A one with a voiceover from Bill Minkin one with music only. They were encoded and moved to the end of the show.
- This is the only King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast of Bobby & The Midnites in concert.

Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LPs prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a microfiber disc cleaner was used on the records prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System using distilled water prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable & tone arm balanced: Needle Tracking & Azimuth set: Needle Pressure & Antiskid digitaly set:
- Computer Soundcard stereo field maximized.
- Goldwave set to record while filtering any DC Offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Declicked manually and some noise reduction used depending on what best served the situation.
- Raised the volume of the commercials to match that of the music and voice overs.
- A rumble filter with an initial cut off of 50khz and a static steepness of 2 was used to lessen the needle noise on the commercials due to having to raise the volume to match that of the music and voice overs.

Other Notes:
- Bobby & The Midnites was the main solo vehical for Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead in the early 1980s.
- The band also had some famous Jazz Fusion players as members, Billy Cobham of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report and Alphonso Johnson also from Weather Report.
- Midnites lead guitar player Bobby Cochran played in Steppenwolf amongst others and Dave Garland was a successful songwriter and session player.
- The Huey Lewis portion of the show, if I am right about the date, was broadcast by MTV.
- Huey Lewis was the harmonica player on Thin Lizzy's Classic Album Black Rose playing on both "Sarah" and "With Love". He also played on Phil Lynott's Solo In Soho tracks "Tattoo (Giving It All Up for Love)" whichj he covers here and "Ode to a Black Man". Heuy Lewis also played harmonica on Nick Lowe's Labou Of Lust, Dave Edmunds' Repeat When Necessary, City Boy's The Day The Earth Caught Fire and on USA For Africa's "We Are The World".

What a show, 2 and a half hours of pure Weather Report Jazz. Do not be scared of the Excellent Audience tag. This show is amazing!! This is a great show remastered by Goody so it sounds awesome. The problem with this one is just a small little detail that means a lot....No one said what kind of recording they were working with FM broadcast, TV broadcast, soundboard, excellent audience, or soundboard audience matrix. With the sound I hear I decided I would guess at a soundboard matrix.

The stage sound is awesome so it could be an FM recording. The only thing is how good you hear the audience. You hear a taper saying "grab the cord I wanna move up.." and "hurry up gimme some battaries". So you see the dilemma hear...All in all it's a minor detail but a huge detail too. I don't like posting a source without identifying it but this thing is too good to not post!!!

Composer, Player, Innovator, Jazz Icon, Legend Wayne Shorter has died at the age of 89. No cause of death was given. Wayne Shorter is/was/always will be one of my favorite Jazz Musicians Of All Time. From his work with Miles Davis to his days in Weather Report to his solo endeavors and his many projects with Herbie Hancock, the man is nothing less than Phenomenal!! He has the awards to prove it too! From Downbeat's Reader's Poll's New Star Saxophonist in 1962, his 1st Grammy Award, with Weather Report Best Jazz Fusion Performance in 1979 for their 8:30 album. He won a Best Improvised Jazz Solo Grammy in 2023 for his track "Endangered Species". Wayne had retired from the road due to heath conditions that made it to hard to do so in 2018 but kept recording till he couldn't anymore (respect, much respect). His presence in the Jazz World will be sorely missed.

Rosebud & I watched an awesome documentary on Jaco Pastorius recently. It's on the streaming service Peacock and it's called Jaco. It covered his childhood, time in Weather Report, his solo career and battle with mental illness. There was some performance clips from all eras of Jaco including his days with the Word Of Mouth Big Band. It reminded me I had some Word Of Mouth recordings that I hadn't shared yet. This recording set is in raw soundboard form. This means some instrument levels are real up front while some are lower in the mix. Both more than normal, but it's an enjoyable listen. Some of the levels fluctuate as well but like I said this is an enjoyable listen.

Weather Report has had a few  people flow through their line up but this is one of my favorites. The band has Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Joe Zawinul for one. They also have the some what lesser known Alex Acuna and Manolo Badrena, who have played with more people than I could list. So much talent involved and they live up to it. I never caught Weather Report in concert so have a recording from a Michigan show was extra special.

Joe Zawinul passed away September 11, 2007 from a rare skin cancer, he was 75.

Jaco Pastorius passed away at age 35 September 21, 1987 due to injuries from a bar fight.

The Legendary Jazz Group Weather Report featuring Sax Legend Wayne Shorter and Bass Legend Jaco Pastorius. This Sunday Morning Jazz offering is a dry soundboard recording with very little audience noise. This is the first appearance of Weather Report on The New JDP, there will be more to come from this genre stretching group.
