Did not know there was actually a Pre-FM recording from the Black & Blue Tour till I found this (not really sure how long ago). When Rosebud & I came together we bond on our mutual love of all things Black Sabbath & Heavy Metal. I tell this story a lot, but I asked Rosebud to marry me at a Pantera, Black Sabbath concert. It was during the song "Becoming" by Pantera. I look over and see my 5foot 2inch girlfriend had her fist in the air singing along to the chorus "I'm born again with snake eyes, becoming God size" and I said "Please marry me", there was a couple next to us that heard Rosebud say yes and smoked a joint with us. It was a great night. This is Rosebud's 1st Rosebud Pick of 2022!! What a way to start!!

- Thank you Draftervoi for the newspaper clippings.
- Thank You to my fellow members of The Collective Of Live Music for all the help and inspiration.
Known Faults:
- No cue sheets or CD scans included with the files.
- CD One Track One has about a 2 seconds of phasing of the stereo signal at the very beginning of the track.
Recording Notes:
- Recording was sent to me in 7 unedited flac files with no cue sheet or CD scans.
- Recording was initially a live broadcast from The Orpheum Theater, Boston, Massachusettes August 9, 1992. The show was then re-released by Westwood One 3 times with different track lists and running orders.
Editing Notes:
- I used Trader's Little Helper to decode the flac files. Then used Goldwave to index the tracks. Waves were re-encoded with Trader's Little Helper aligning sector boundaries. Then tagged the files with Mp3tag.

Rosebud has a pretty wide musical taste but if I ask her what she wants to hear I usually have to preface it with no Queensryche, Kansas or Dio. They are her 3 go to bands when asked, which sometimes annoys me since I have her every CD she asked for. I usually have to remind her she has the compete recorded works of Grace Slick and Lynyrd Skynyrd to get a different response out of her. Last night I didn't say that, so that means you benefit with a great Dio show! I probably say this too much but one thing I really love about Ronnie's Dio music is that it neatly ties together the music from his days in both Black Sabbath and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

Rosebud's Tribute To Her Favorite Singers continues with The Godfather Of Heavy Metal Ronnie James Dio, or Dio as his fans call him. Dio, a name when mentioned in Hard Rock/Heavy Metal circles gets you a flash of the Meloik and story of a first Dio concert experience. Some will say it was with Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. Some will say it was fronting the mighty return of Black Sabbath (Me included JD). Then there are those who say it was fronting his eponymously named solo outfit Dio. A chosen few can say they saw the man fronting Elf. A rare few can say it was as Ronnie Dio fronting the Doo Wop group Ronnie & The Red Caps. No matter where and when they saw him, it was always agreed the man had a presence larger than his 5 foot 4 inch frame. His distinctive voice, phrasing, and inflections were boosted by a power that most singers could not muster on their best day.
This bad ass 3 CD set collects together 3 killer Dio performances at The London Hammersmith Odeon. 1 with Vivian Campbell on guitar, 2 with Craig Goldie. All 3 are a nice mix of Dio's career from Rainbow, through Black Sabbath, to his solo career. I remember when I first heard the Holy Diver album. My friend we called Tripper (not because of LSD though) brought it over to my house the same day I had bought Motörhead's Another Perfect Day. We smoked a couple joints and listened to the Motörhead first. Neither one of us loved it on the first listen (it's 1 of my top 5 of Motörhead now0. It was a bit of a change of direction, more melodic. We then put on Holy Diver, it was actually a love at first sound thing for both of us. I did comment it was a bit more commercial than his Black Sabbath material (just like Ozzy). We both, however, agreed it was the perfect bridge between his Rainbow and Sabbath music. Like any fanatic of Ronnie James Dio, I was more than pleased to find that live it was just that. All 3 sets here are loaded with Rainbow, Sabbath and Dio tunes. Enjoy!!

Rosebud's Tribute To Her Favorite Singers continues with a double shot of Ronnie James Dio. Both recordings are 3 CD sets as well. This one is from Rainbow's rehearsals for their 1976 world tour. It's been called a for fanatics only collection because of it's shortage of complete performances. I say anyone curious about how the band prepped for a show should check it out. It's a free download of a very expensive bootleg CD, but if this one isn't for you show #2 from this double shot will be.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the audio with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to adjust the volume, re-edit some track marks, and add a fade in/fade out at the beginning/end of the recording. The interview tracks were very short and had bad audio so I edited them out. No EQ or noise reduction was used. I then encoded the waves to MP3 320kbps because the DVD had lossy audio.
This show has a soundboard recording of Quiet Riot with Paul Shortino of Ruff Cutt on vocals. Keven DuBrow had been fired by the band because of derogatory remarks Keven had made in the press about other Metal bands. The fan backlash caused the other members of Quiet Riot to fire Dubrow and replace him with Shortino. This left Quiet Riot with no original members in the band.

Ronnie James Dio formed the band Dio after leaving/being fired from Black Sabbath (depending on who is telling the story). The band Dio's music fit well right between the Power Metal of his Rainbow days and the Doom Metal of Black Sabbath. This made it easy for Ronnie to feature songs from the most popular eras of his career. Ronnie's Elf material as well as his Do Wop days were left untouched. Ronnie James Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer November of 2009. Ronnie underwent treatment and was reported to be responding well. Ronnie lost his battle with cancer on May 16, 2010, the disease had metastasized through out his body.

Our Dio tribute rolls on with another offering from his days with Black Sabbath. This time from the Dehumanizer Tour. I have a few different versions of this gig and, this one I enjoy the most. When I caught this tour it was at The Capitol Theater in Flint, Michigan. The place held about 2,000 people so it was a great place to catch the tour. Every seat was like being on the main floor of an arena. Thrash Metal Titans Exodus were the opening act along with Skew Siskin. I crowd surfed and was thrown over the barricade in front of Dio. I had to be walked threw the back stage area, out side, then to the front door to be let back in. As we came around the side of the building, security and I ended up in the middle of a verbal fight between Exodus' and Skew Siskens' road crews. Kind of an interesting night.

Continuing with our solute to Ronnie James Dio we have a fantastic show from the Rainbow Rising line-up of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. This tape is supposed to come from the personal archives of Cozy Powell. Cozy made soundboard and stage recordings of his many bands which have surfaced as bootlegs over the years since his death. This boot has two separate mixes of the same show the version on CD 1 being the most complete. Ronnie's vocals are amazing on this one. Personally I can never have enough live versions of Ronnie singing "Catch The Rainbow".

As our tribute to Ronnie James Dio rolls on we come to the man's solo career. The DIO solo material fit quite nicely alongside his Rainbow and Black Sabbath material. At the time of this recording Ronnie had a deep back catalog to go through. Along side fan favorites like "Man On The Silver Mountain", "Heaven And Hell", & "Holy Diver" the man pulls out "The Sign Of The Southern Cross" and the rarely played "Gates Of Babylon". Ronnie is in fine voice and the band is playing quite well together. A nice addition to anyone's DIO collection.

Our next offering for our salute to Ronnie James Dio is from his days with Black Sabbath, more specific, the Heaven & Hell World Tour. This set offers tracks from 3 different shows over 2 packed CD's.
When Black Sabbath re-united the classic line-up after many years apart, Bill Ward commented that the way the band played had changed. He said during his time with the band they had played by "feel". When Sabbath started playing with different drummers the band started playing "time". This was hard for Bill to get used to as he still played by "feel" and never plays a song the same way twice. This great collection gives us a chance to compare the drumming of Bill Ward and first replacement Vinnie Appice. CD1 is Vinnie Appice and CD2 has Bill Ward. The second half of the CD is of special note, being an unknown soundboard from the USA tour.

With the anniversary of Ronnie James Dio's passing comes closer Rosebud and I have decided to pay tribute the man with bootlegs from his various bands. Up first is an offering from his days in Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. More specifically the Rainbow Rising line-up. Considered by many to be the definitive version of the band, which would only last to the recording sessions for the follow up album started. This 2 CD bootleg is comprised of tracks from 3 Japan shows. The concerts in Germany and Japan during the Rising Tour were recorded to make the On Stage live album. With a heavy metal sound and the improvisational skills of MK2 era Deep Purple, it's no small wonder this line-up is loved by so many.

For many, Rosebud & Myself included, the Ronnie James Dio era of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, is considered the best. With a trio of studio LP's and one double live LP Dio & Blackmore drew the blueprint for the Power Metal genre. Sword & Sorcery, Maidens, Knights, Kings & Queens became the subject matter for many imitators.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow was opening for REO Speedwagon when The BBC taped this show. On the road to promote the Long Live Rock & Roll release, this would be Ronnie James Dio's last tour with Rainbow. Ritchie decided to pursue a more commercial direction for the band, leaving the sword and sorcery themes behind. Dio didn't agree with that decision and decided to leave the band. David Stone and Bob Daisley were fired and replaced with Dony Airey and Roger Glover respectively. To replace the departed Dio, Blackmore first attempted to convince Ian Gillan to join him. Gillan refused and Blackmore hired Graham Bonnett. In 1997 Cozy Powell convinced Blackmore and Dio to reform the Rainbow Rising line-up. It was to be a one tour reunion, alas Cozy Powell's death in 1998 kept this reunion from happening.
