This is The Steve Miller Blues Band, a far cry from the Space Rock of Fly Like An Eagle. It's more on par with the style of Blues Rock that most Blues inspired musicians of the 1960's were performing. That being said this is a kick ass performance of some of the best Blues Rock to be played by a Rocker of the 1960's. This is the same line-up that backed Chuck Berry at the Fillmore West and played at the Monterey Pop Festival. This is also before the addition of Boz Skaggs. So download this show now if you love stuff like Ten Years After, Paul Butterfield, etc. Also download this if you never heard The Steve Miller Blues Band and learn why he was called Stevie "Guitar" Miller by such worshiping fans as a young George Thorogood (true story Steve Miller heavily influenced George, see the DVD included in the Fly Like An Eagle deluxe edition).

Pretty sure I originally got this from Hear Rock City so thanks go out to them (a great Rock, Hard Rock Metal blog by the way, now a forum)). When Motörhead guitarist left to pursue other ventures he was quoted as saying he wanted to make music that he could be proud of. This was a slam against Lemmy's decision to record the Tammy Wynette song "Stand By Your Man"  with Wendy O'Williams of The Plasmatics. The album spawned two radio hits that actually received MTV air play in "Say What You Will" and "Easy Living". Successful tours followed but the band never received the attention Clarke's former band did. Dave King now fronts Celtic Punk outfit Flogging Molly, "Fast" Eddie Clarke emerged in 2011 with another line-up of Fastway and released the CD Eat Dog Eat.

OK first off I got this from D & P's Bootleg Tunz World so you know it's a quality concert. So the question of whether it is a good recording is answered right of the bat. It's also a great performance from early in the career of this Genesis side project. If you don't have this show in your collection you simply should that's all there is to it.

Also on the bill for this show were West, Bruce & Laing and Procol Harum, Mahavishnu Orchestra was the opening act. This show was professionally recorded and John McLaughlin loved it so much he tried to have CBS release it. Alas it still hasn't been officially released, which is sad because this is a kick ass performance. To have this recording come out with a professional mix would be fantastic. Since that is not the case we have this remastered version of Firepower Records bootleg. If you love John McLaughlin and/or Mahavishnu Orchestra I can not recommend this recording more.
