Our Good Friend and Follower of The Site, GMan, has sent me a copy of his recording of the Steely Dan, Steve Winwood show in Vegas the year 2016. He said I could post it if I liked it. When he sent it he said it was not one of his better recordings. You hear that sometimes from tapers because there might be a flaw they don't like in the recording. They are their own worst critics which I'm glad to say GMan is no different. This is a really good recording. You can hear everything coming from the stage. There is some talking, not all the time so not too distracting. A couple loud clappers here and a loud whistler there. No real big deal at all...I think you will enjoy it! I added a copy of a ticket on sale on Ebay, and a couple other picks just in case there is someone who wants to make art work for themselves, here is a start.

This is a very nice audience recording. BurnBoy has been recording from the audience for some time now and has his favorite venues on lock. Always carrying more than one recording rig, this human octopus usually handles 3 recording units at a time. He then posts all three on trackers so people can make up their minds which one they prefer. My choice usually is the recordings made with the Sony PCM-M10 like this one. You have some real nice low frequencies usually with his Sony PCM-M10 while he uses a Roland R-05 that gets some real nice crisp highs.

How about the performance you ask. Well for a band that hated the road when they were younger these elder statesmen of Rock And Soul Jazz have become quite the live unit. I have seen Steely Dan in concert quite a few times since they started touring again and every time they just got better and better. The last time they came through Detroit, on the last tour that Walter Becker was still alive was one of the best concerts I have seen in my 60 year life. The sound was so clear you could hear every detail coming from the stage. At the same time it was louder than most Heavy Metal shows at Pine Knob that year!

I recommend BurnBoy recordings to anyone who will listen to a Mike Millard or Dan Limpinski audience recording. You will enjoy BurnBoy recordings, I do...

This is a great CD set, it should be a live album! It's a compilation of some of the best performances from Steely Dan's U.K. Leg of their Two Against Nature Tour. Rosebud and I have seen Steely Dan more than 4 times since the bands reformation and return to touring. The last time We saw them was on tour with Steve Winwood as the opening act. I have seen many concerts, many different styles of music, and that was on of the best shows performance wise I had seen in quite a long time. Steve Winwood took the fans on a journey through the best of his solo, Traffic, and Spencer Davis Group catalog. Steely Dan's set was amazing that night. The sound was so damn clear you could hear everything played on stage. It was also the loudest show I think I have been to. I have seen The Ramones (so damn loud), Ted Nugent (you could feel the air pressure from the volume) Slayer (almost painful loud), Pantera (the overhead A/C units kept raining water from vibrations), Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath's G/Z/R with Fear Factory's Burton Bell (plaster from the sealing kept falling on the audience). None were as clear and as loud as the Steely Dan , Steve Winwood show.

justdave's notes:
I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks, no EQ, noise reduction or remixing was needed. Th waves were lossy so I used Traders Little Helper to encoded them to MP3 320kbps.

This is a great sounding recording for being sourced from a VHS. The performance is fabulous, with an extra emphasis on the Jazz aspects of the bands sound, including new arraignments for some songs. Also it must be noted that Jazz Greats Cornelious Bumpus, Chris Potter, & Bob Sheppard are the bands horn section. A horn section made up completely of saxophones. Also of note is Warren Bernhart on piano. Another thing is the setlist which is not your average Greatest Hits set but more a celebration of a wider selection of Becker & Fagen's song writing talents.

Walter Becker passed away from an undisclosed illness September 3, 2017 at the age of 67. The last concert I attended as of this posting was the Steve Winwood / Steely Dan North American Tour of 2016. It was the best sounding concert that I have attended in my 52 years on this planet. I've seen Steely Dan a few times (was my first Steve Winwood show) and it was also the best I had heard them perform. The sound quality was phenomenal the clearest I've heard at Pine Knob Amphitheater in my years of going there (long enough that I can't call it DTE Energy Music Theater). Walter Becker's passing is a great loss to the world of music.

Don't be fooled by the art work that is included with this download. This is a 100% pure soundboard recording of a one of a kind performance . Aja and Royal Scam being performed in their entirety.

Nice show from The Dan's 2000 tour, but then again Steely Dan live is always enjoyable. The band barely gets to start "Josie" when he power goes out, after the power is fixed they start the song over. I ripped this from a DVD that I downloaded from The Traders Den. I tweeked the sound slightly to bring out a little more bass than it originally had. The CD break was made where the band took their set break.

Steely Dan released there 5th album, The Royal Scam, in 1976. The album peaked at #15 on the charts, on it's way to being certified gold. The album was actually not as well received by the critics as earlier works. Critics said the album didn't represent any musical growth for the band. But hey it reached #15 on the charts who cares what critics say when fans love what you do! The album itself had a much more guitar oriented sound than previous albums, in large part due to the participation of guitar wizard Larry Carlton. Larry joins the band for this show, to help re-create that album live in it's entirety. The sound for this show is almost flawless, all instruments are clearly heard, and the vocals are crisp. Everyone who loves Steely Dan must have this show, if you don't then consider yourself a poser!!!

Another great recording from the reunited Steely Dan. This time around touring in support of their ninth studio album Everything Must Go. On this release Steely Dan tried to to write songs with more of a live feel to them. The session players were kept to a minimum compared to the bands earlier output. This is a great show any Steely Dan fan, novice to fanatic, would love to include in their collection.

This very clean soundboard recording from a reunited Steely Dan's 1993 tour just recently surfaced in trading circles. Everything has great tone from the drums to the vocals. This is a fabulous performance form everyone involved. It seems the Sax section are extra hot this night turning in some phenomenal solos. So in short this is a 10 people.
