Nice sounding broadcast from the Remain In Light tour. The band was experimenting with Afrobeat, West African Polyrhythms, North African Arabic Music, and Disco Funk at this time. The complex songs required an augmented line-up to perform them live. Initially there was only to be 2 shows from this nine person line-up. One at Heatwave Festival August 23, 1980 in Canada in front of 70,000 people. The other at Wollman Rink in New York City's Central Park August 27, 1980. The response to these show prompted Sire to fund an extended tour.

No other cuts or edits from master.  The original uploader's info says that The Talking Heads were the opening act for The B-52's, this however is incorrect, The B-52's opened for The Talking Heads. The B-52's have also released their set from this date as a digital download therefore their set will be deleted from the blog. This recording has great sound and should be in even the casual Talking Heads fan's collection.

This is a 16 bit version of a 24 bit that was being hosted by Hans Devente on his blog. The 24 bit version was a total of 3gig so I decoded the files and used GoldWave v.5.04 to turn the files into 16 bit then encoded them to flac level 8 using Traders Little Helper aligning all sector boundaries.

This is a great sounding recording that should be a welcome addition to any Talking Heads fan's collection.

I bought this 3 disc LP boxed set (and a few other syndicated radio show discs) at a flea market a few years ago and am just getting around to digitizing them. It's in relatively good shape except for side 2 "Once In a Lifetime" which is a bit scuffed up. Apparently Westwood One reshuffled the Talking Heads setlist to suit their needs - I used the track order as they appear on the records. "The Big Business / I Zimbra" medley seems to be a creation of Westwood One as well. The discs included radio spots and DJ announcements which I have edited out.
