JustDave's Notes:
- This one is for the 6 foot 8 inch ghost in my house, my Father In-Law Alphonse if I only knew you were a Merle Haggard Fan when you were with us.....We miss you always!
- As always a Big Thank You to my fellow members of The Collective Of Live Music for all the help and inspiration.
- I also want to thank BiginV3 for setting me on a search for what he called the holy grail of Merle Haggard Collectors.
Known Faults:
- No Cue sheet included with the records when purchased.
- The show promo included is actually for the wrong show. The one on the record is for Merle Haggard & The Strangers at Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee. The show on the record is from Dewey Groom's Longhorn Ballroom, Dallas, Texas. The location is identified a few times by Merle Haggard. Also Dewey Groom would not be yelling at the guests to sit down if it was Opryland.
- Some vinyl artifacts may still be audible as sometimes it's better to leave them alone than make a worse sound with the"cure".
Recording Notes:
- Silver Eagle II is the Canadian version of Silver Eagle Cross Country Music Show produced by the D.I.R. Broadcasting Corp.
- The Silver Eagle II is pressed on 2 LPs with the 2nd LP only having one side. It still has the same amount of music as the American version there is just no commercials on the albums. The commercials would be for Canadian products since the show would be broadcast over Canadian radio.
- Unlike the Silver Eagle Cross Country Music Show, the Silver Eagle II has no test tone for setting the balance and play levels at the radio station. There are no locked grooves whatsoever. The segments fade out then the next fades in. The show promo is on the 3rd side but is between the 2 music segments.
Editing Notes:
- A Zerostat Positive Ion gun was used on LP prior to playback.
- A carbon fiber record brush, then a felt disc cleaner was used on the record prior to playback.
- Records hand cleaned with Record Research Lab Super Record Wash before playback.
- LP cleaned with the HumminGuru Ultrasonic Vinyl Record Cleaning System prior to playback.
- Raw transfer: EQ off, treble and bass levels set at +/- zero for most accurate sound of LP.
- Turntable balanced: Needle Tracking, Azimuth, Pressure & Antiskid Dialed In: Soundcard stereo field maximized: Goldwave always set to record while filtering any offset.
- Recording and all editing done in 24bit/96khz.
- Preservation being key the show is encoded complete with commercials and voiceovers.
- Both manually de-clicked and some Pop Fix used depending on what got the best result.
Other Notes:
- Merle Haggard had the historical distinction of sharing a marquee with The Sex Pistols. When touring the United States The Sex Pistols played The Longhorn Ballroom January 10, 1978. Merle Haggard played there on January 19, 1978 so both names were on the marque at the same time.
- Dewey Groom yells at the crowd, for a minute and a half, that he has a problem with them standing up because people behind them can not see. Can you imagine this guy having to deal with The Sex Pistols and their audience at his club.
- According to my research the song "The Mule" was first performed by Merle Haggard & The Strangers at Dewey Groom's Longhorn Ballroom, Dallas, Texas March 26, 1981.

I got this from Big O a while back a really nice resource for various genres of bootlegs. This upload is for a request from DJ Big B over at KMS Radio he is thinking of changing formats to Country Music.
