No more Iggy & The Stooges. Scott "Rock Action" Asheton, Ron Ashton, Steve Mackay, Dave Alexander, Bill Cheatham, Zeke Zettner, have all passed on. At the time of this recording James Williamson had once again filed the guitar spot, after the death of Ron Ashton. After the death of Scott "Rock Action" Asheton, Iggy put the band to bed for good.

Scott "Rock Action" Asheton has passed on to the great gig in the sky to once again play along side his brother Ron Ashton. The Stooges were working on a new album at the time of Scott's passing. The disc was to feature new recordings of Stooges classics. The band was going to use a few different vocalists as Iggy was going to sit this one out. Scott Asheton would have been the only original Stooge on the album. This was all to be done with Iggy's blessing and Iggy would return for the following album.

So we offer this great set from The Stooges appearance at The Montreux Jazz Festival to all Stooges fans in tribute to Scott "Rock Action" Asheton Rest In Peace.

I've heard it said that Lou Reed invented Punk Rock. A valid hypothesis but forgets one very big part of the equation. Iggy Pop & The Stooges. Henery Rollins (a man who knows what he is talking about) considers both The Stooges Fun House and The Velvet Undergrounds White Light/White Heat to be the greatest records ever made. Everyone from Joey Ramone to Patty Smith admit equal debt to both bands. Joe Strummer frequently covered 1969 on his final tour and Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols mentioned in an interview that he learned to play guitar by taking speed and playing along to Raw Power.

This performance is pure Stooges, loose, raw, and powerful. Iggy calls the crowd up on the stage for "Real Cool Time" and "No Fun", then it takes about 6 minutes for the stage to clear enough to proceed with the show.

There is a little distortion at the beginning of "Loose", this is from interference in the digital feed, that lasts only a second or two.

Another great set from the re-united Stooges. At this festival when Iggy calls the fans up on the stage security keeps the people to a minimum so clearing the stage is easier than the Glastonbury Festival. This allows The Stooges to play one more song Little Electric Chair. Personally I can't have enough soundboards from this tour !!
