JustDave's Notes:
- I got this from another collector who gave me all the info he had on the show which was not much, it was given to him the same way. As 6 unedited flac files, 2 cue sheet scans, some cover art and an audio checker text which said it was lossless.
- I decoded the files and indexed the tracks. After that I re-encoded them to FLAC Level 8

Known Flaws:
- Original rip lineage unknown but the tracks were cut on sector boundaries when checked prior to indexing tracks.
- Vinyl noise can clearly be heard, it looks like Westwood One used the BBC Transcription Albums to make this Two CD set.

Quadraphonic Digitization of Pop Special - BBC Pop Spectacular Featuring Genesis In Concert 137492-SQ from a DVDA downloaded from a Russian Torrent Tracker. For those who prefer MP3 encodings I used DVD Audio Extractor to rip a dual wave instead of a quad wave rip. This gets the same mix but only in stereo since MP3 can not be encoded to SQ-Quadraphonic only Flac works in this situation, unless you want a DVD audio encoding.

Okay that info is out of the way. Of course this Pre-FM SQ-Quadraphonic DVDA comes from our friends at The Genesis Archive. They of course find the best sources of well known shows. The DVD had not only the Quad Pre-FM but the audience recording in stereo but it was not something I thought I would listen to more than once. I didn't even finish it.. You will definitely enjoy this BBC Special Broadcast in your collection...I know I was real happy when I found this.

The SQ-Quadraphonic Flac set is huge so it is broken into 4 parts ALL parts unzip separately. The Stereo Flac Is in 2 Parts and will unzip separately as well.

justdave notes:
This is a Hans De Vente tape that has been edited by justdave. The recording was originally encoded to 2 long files, one per tape side. I decoded the files with Traders Little Helper, then edited the individual tracks with GoldWave v.5.04. There was a drop out in the very beginning of "Across The River" that I fixed. Also a tape flip occurred at the 3 minutes 51 second mark of "Family Snapshot" that I spliced. Other than that I didn't alter the recording with any EQ, noise reduction, or remastering.

Ripped from the bootleg DVD, a fantastic sounding show. Peter addresses the crowd in their native Portuguese, using pre-written notes, receiving chuckles from the crowd when he has to correct himself. The broadcast took place during a storm so there were some problems, the most notable is just after Peter's introduction to "The Rhythm Of The Heat", the music fades in after a burst of static. I removed the static, the fade occurred naturally, I did not add it, nor did I delete it. CD2 track 4 is a speech given about Peter's work with such charities as Amnesty  International, I left it for continuity. If you don't play this track you don't miss any music. My track list is different from the art work because I didn't separate the song intros from the songs like the DVD author, and I didn't encode the 10 minute introduction.

2 shows were recorded so that King Biscuit Flower Hour could trim them down to make a broadcast, this way ensuring the best recordings for airing. When King Biscuit Flower Hour aired this show it was only 7 songs. The Bottom Line was a small club that held only 400 people. Quite a few big names have graced it's stage. Could you imagine seeing Peter Gabriel in such an intimate venue? Tickets were just $7.00 US.

Carefully constructed from several different sources, this is the complete FM broadcast of this historic Genesis gig. Not only do you get the Genesis portion of the show, you get what was broadcast of Peter Hammill's opening set. You also get the Peter Gabriel interview. All of this in a very fine sounding recording.

Peter Hammill of course is a founding member of Vaan der Graaf Generator. He performs a solo acoustic set here, so fans of Van der Graaf Generator will sure want this one. Fans of Genesis will also want this one because it is the best sounding of this show hands down. I can't think of a better way to start our Peter Gabriel era Genesis posts here at Just Dave's Place.
