This is a very interesting boot. It has very good sound quality and a fabulous performance from all involved. What makes it interesting is the band itself. Formed By Emerson & Palmer with Robert Berry, 3 only released one album 3 To the Power of Three. There was a very short tour, with some shows being billed as Emerson & Palmer, no mention of Robert Berry. They were also augmented by a second guitarist and a backing vocalist. The show focused on the LP's material with a couple E.L.P. instrumentals thrown in, as well as The Byrds "Eight Miles High" and The Four Tops "Standing in the Shadows of Love". As for the original material itself, it is a mix of Prog and AOR. 3 disbanded in 1989 when Emerson and Palmer reunited with Greg Lake for the Black Moon release. Berry went on to a failed attempt by Steve Howe to replace Steve Hackett in GTR. Berry's current band Alliance is composed of Gary Pihl from the band Boston on guitar, David Lauser from the Sammy Hagar Band on drums and Alan Fitzgerald from Night Ranger on keyboards.

Known Faults: A couple of dropouts from issues during the original recording in "Tarkus", most seamlessly repaired in mastering

This is the latest Mike Millard Master Tape released by JEMS. Emerson, Lake & Palmer were on tour for their Brain Salad Surgery album, considered by many fans to be their best work. My go to E.L.P. album is Tarkus but then again I have an eccentric taste I've been told. I mean my go to Black Sabbath albums are Sabatage, Never Say Die and Born Again. My go to Pink Floyd is Meddle, My go to Aerosmith is Draw The Line, with Santana it's Caravanserai and with Bob Seger it's Seven.

At the end of this tour the band would take an extended break to plan their next move musically. It wouldn't be till 1977 that the follow up album to Brain Salad Surgery would be released. Works Volume 1 came with mixed reviews, seen as "bloated and self indulgent" by most due to the "solo sides" by Emerson and Lake mostly. Myself I say, like Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, between Works Volume 1 and Volume 2 you can make one good album. But hey that's just my opinion other's are just as valid.

What shouldn't be over looked at this time though is E.L.P.'s triple live album. Welcome Back My Friends To A Show That Never Ends...Ladies And Gentlemen Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It's a 1970s Live album with no overdubs!! Like Deep Purple's Made In Japan and Grand Funk Railroad's Live Album nothing on the album was fixed!! In a time when live albums were either heavily overdubbed like say Judas Priest's Unleashed in The East where all Rob Halford's vocals were re-recorded. Some live albums like Kiss' Alive and Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive were basically re-created in the studio. The live recordings for ELP's Welcome Back My Friends were also used for the King Biscuit Flower Hour broadcast. This post is turning into the script for Ben Hur so I'll end it by saying Enjoy the music.

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some track marks, lower the volume and try to reduce sound clipping. No EQ or Noise Reduction used. No remastering of the sound was done. The recording is a little bass heavy but very listenable and enjoyable.

The death of Keith Emerson was a huge shock to his many fans. To lose one of your musical heroes is bad enough, to know it was suicide is worse. How could your hero who has the fame & fortune that music stardom gives be so depressed and lost. Keith Emerson, according to his wife, had been having  a re-occurrence of a medical condition that kept him from playing up to his ability and expectations. Keith was also drinking heavily, seriously depressed and nervous about an upcoming tour. 8 days prior to Emerson's suicide Ronnie Montrose, age 64, commit suicide due to his health problems related to a prostate cancer battle. Such a loss for the world.

Alright this is truly a rare find. It's difficult to even locate a Toe Fat album, but a bootleg, wow! Toe Fat to some are a footnote in the Rock And Roll History Book referencing other bands. Two members of Toe Fat, Ken Hensley & Lee Kerslake, left to form Uriah Heep after the first album. John Glascock went on to join Jethro Tull. Brian Glascock went on to play with Captain Beyond, Iggy Pop, The Motels & The Bee Gees. Alan Kendall went on to play lead guitar for The Bee Gees. Of course there was Lee & Ken's first band The Gods with future E.L.P. member Greg Lake. The Gods first single is included here. The main body of this disc is the BBC appearances of Toe Fat. Toe Fat's Psychodelic Hard Rock was vital to The Roots Of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.

Keith Emerson died on March 10, 2016 from a single self inflicted gun shot to the head, he was 71.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer was the first Classic Rock concert that I took Rosebud to. We had attended many concerts while we dated, and after our marriage, but mostly Heavy Metal/Hard Rock concerts since it was a mutual love. When ELP reunited in the 1990's I saw it as an opportunity to introduce her to some classic Progressive Rock. I called her from work and told her that ELP would be at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan and could she try to get us some tickets. When I arrived home she told me that we would be sitting on the main floor 6th row center stage. What a set of seats, our friends Gypsy Dan and Prof Paul joined us for one of the best concerts we have ever attended (that's saying a lot, I seen Stevie Ray Vaughan jamming with Joe Cocker!). Keith Emerson pulled out the old Hammond Organ during an extended "Rondo" and proceeded to play it, beat it , kick it,  throw it around, and stab it with knives. Rosebud was blown away and a fan for life. We saw them a couple more times during the 1990's reunion period before the break up.

Sound quality is really good with a slight (very slight) trace of radio hiss at times. No drop outs or tape fades. The bands performance is excellent (of course).

Ripped from a white label vinyl bootleg LP. For those who don't know what a white label boot
is, it's just that, a record with a white label and no print on the jacket. Sometimes you would get a paper insert that told you the title and track list, most times the store owner wrote title and band name on the jacket. When I first distributed this recording I didn't have a date or location due to the fact that no info was on the jacket. A recent upload at The Traders Den has given me that missing info. That being said I must say this is my own encoding from my personal copy of this great bootleg.

The album was prepped with Pfan-Stat No.Sa-14 and the D4 ZeroStat Positive Ion Gun. Then played on a Sony PS-LX300H Turntable. It was tracked to a Maxell CDR-Music Pro disc with a Sony RCD-W500C CD Recorder using the super bit mapping setting. The waves were then imported to GoldWave v.5.04 for a passive pop/click fix ( I have found agressive pop/click fix will mess with sound quality) and track separation.

A very nice sounding recording form the prog rock masters. With only 45 minutes to show what an ELP show is all about the band pulls out all the tricks. Emerson drags his poor old B-3 Organ around the stage sticking daggers in it to hold notes, laying under the thing and playing upside down, Carl beats the hell out of his drums, and Greg sings his heart out. ELP have released quite a lot of old recordings, their set from Cal Jam 1 is available on DVD now. Makes a few of my bootlegs obsolete but this one hasn't been released yet so enjoy.
