This show is also released as You Speak My Language on vinyl. Every release I have came across on the net has the set list in a different order. The sound of this recording is very good and brings together 2 of my Favorite Jazz Guitarists. With Steve Swallow & Bill Stewart rounding out the group you have a line-up that can't lose. To round out the double disc format you get one hell of a set of bonus tracks. John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Marc Johnson & Peter Erskine together, it's a double win!

This Sunday Morning Jazz saw me in a guitar mood so I put on this new John Scofield recording I just downloaded and played it twice actually. I joined the MeTaLMaDNesSS.Team ed2k forum because they have bootlegs from really heavy Metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Beherit, and Morbid Angel. I never would have guessed I would find an FM recording of one of my favorite Jazz guitarists. This little gem here came from that very same tracker where I downloaded a Flac version of the Cannibal Corpse bootleg Butchering Chicago 1992.

The recording is very nice, it's a little shy on information but not shy on the guitar playing all Sco's fans have come to expect from him when buying a ticket, an album or just listening to a concert on the radio. If you download just one Jazz show today, my advice is make it this one! Oh by the way, when you read the songs titles during your listen, remember that John has said he writes and records the songs then lets his wife name them. He has her give a title based on her initial reaction to the song. Now think of that when you read the title "I Brake For Monster Booty" while listening to that Funky Groove.

JustDave's Notes:
- Shared by SerenobraK on the MeTaLMaDNesSS.Team ed2k forum March 13, 2023
- Show was uploaded as one long Flac file with a cue. I used Cue Tools to decode and index the tracks. I then had to fix some blank spots at the beginning and end of each track. After that I used Trader's Little Helper to align the files on sector boundaries and encode them to Flac Level 8

I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to raise te volume and edit track marks. No noise reduction or EQ was used. No remixing or remastering of the audio was done either. The DVD audio was lossy so the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper.

A very good sounding recording from the 2023 Leverkusener Jazztage. The legendary John Scofield brings his Trio and his music to the legendary Jazz Festival in Germany. No selling should be needed for my Jazz loving friends to be sold on this one...it should have you at John Scofield!!!!

JustDave's Notes:
I downloaded this kick ass DVD from a Russian torrent tracker. I ripped the waves with DVD Audio Extractor. I then used Goldwave to re-edit some of the track marks, I also raised the volume by doubling it twice. No EQ or Noise Reduction was used and no remixing or remastering was done. I did remove the broadcast programs intro and outro music. The DVD itself was two parts, each part having five tracks. I cross faded the two parts together for a smoother transition. The DVD itself had lossy audio so the waves were encoded to MP3 320kbps using Trader's Little Helper aligning all sector boundaries.

These four men to me are some of the most talented musicians in Jazz today. I have never heard a bad performance when just one of them was involved. When the four get together you have one of the best damn Jazz Improv bands today. I have a lot of music on the blog from Medeski, Martin, & Wood and John Scofield so check the links to the right.

This time for Sunday Morning Jazz We have a great 3 CD box set from Miles Davis. For those who have downloaded Transmission Impossible CDs in the past know that the quality is always good. You also get 3 different eras from Miles' career. Ever the innovator Miles Davis was The Jazz equivalent of a musical Camelion like David Bowie. His musical direction changed with a beat of a heart. Jazz fans, as well as Miles Davis fans look at the names I already dropped as featured on the album. Can it get any better than to have a compilation with some of the greatest players to emerge from  the Miles Davis band.

Due to the large file size of the flac each CD is uploaded separately and may also open separately

Two of my favorites in Jazz, Medeski, Martin & Wood and Guitar Legend John Scofield join forces to kick some Jazz ass! Each time the trio of Medeski Martin & Wood add the additional element of another instrumentalist it changes the music. With the addition of a guitarist such as John Scofield or Nels Cline the music is such that each could be a different band. Each player is allowed to add the own signature on the music. There is never a shortage of people who want to jam with all 4 of the musicians on this recording so ego must not be a factor, with the music being the magic. For some of that magic check out this great show for yourself.

For those who like something a little more traditional sounding than Nels Cline, here is a great show from The John Scofield Trio. John Scofield has recorded with Jack DeJohnette, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, Gary Burton, Medeski Martin & Wood, and many others. He also has a few different Jazz bands including John Scofield's Ubber Jam band which does very well at the Jam Band Festivals bringing Jazz to fans of Spin Doctors, and Widespread Panic .

He is very popular on the Jam Band Concert Circuit with John Scofield's Ubber Jam Band. I highly recommend this show!
